Your Role Reporting to the Vice President of Internal Audit, Security, Corporate Real Estate & Facilities, the role of the Director is critical to the success of Blue Shield of California in realizing its goals and objectives. The Director is the most senior security executive in the organization. The role is accountable for all aspects of the security process, developing and directing the organization's security strategy, and overseeing implementation of the effort to minimize loss, enhance security, and create business opportunity through the control of risk. Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a college degree (masters preferred) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 10 years prior relevant experience (e.g., armed forces security, military police, law enforcement, or private security), including 6 years of management experience required
- 4 years of Director experience preferred
- Certified Protection Professional desired from American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) desired
- Demonstration of continuing security management education or relevant professional security certification preferred
- Background consistent with the ability to obtain the necessary licenses as required by the position
- Demonstrates ability to manage and direct the security function and all its components, including the ability to plan strategically and develop policy at a senior level
- Possesses ability to budget and plan for security issues
- Demonstrates superior leadership and verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Demonstrates an ability to develop, influence, and nurture trust-based relationships with senior management, business unit leaders, government officials, and professional organizations
- Demonstrates integrity and ability to maintain principles under pressure
