Position Summary:

This role is responsible for internal and external communications for McKesson's Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) Oncology & Specialty businesses with a particular focus on The US Oncology Network (The Network). The candidate must have a proven track record of achievement in a highly matrixed organization and be comfortable operating in a role that requires the ability to build and influence excellent working relationships across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute public relations strategies and plans supporting key business priorities, while working to advance the broader Oncology & Specialty vision and the McKesson enterprise vision.
  • Supervise external consultants, vendors, and agency resources as necessary and appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with functions such as marketing, public affairs, legal, and others to shape and optimize plans and execution.
  • Amplify our differentiated capabilities and solutions in earned media coverage as well via other paid, earned, and owned channels.
    • Inclusive of speaking opportunities, bylines, social media, newsletters, website content, etc.
  • Conduct media relations, inclusive of proactive relationship management with key beat reporters, ongoing response to media inquiries and more.
  • Protect brand equity and customer loyalty through issues management.
  • Activate The Network's and McKesson's thoughtleadership engine on topics where the organizations are uniquely poisedto deliver.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of internal forums, such as town halls and sales conferences.
  • Manage executive communications for key business leaders, particularly The Network president.
  • Lead change communications supporting organizations' business needs.
  • Leverage internal channels to strategically connect each employee to PSaS key imperatives and goals.
  • In collaboration with colleagues, continue to strengthen the capabilities and execution of the Corporate Affairs function.

Expertise/Capabilities should include:

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational communications, media relations, change communications, issues management, as well as data and milestone communications.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Deep expertise working in healthcare media.
  • Ability to forge relationships, problem solve, and negotiate solutions among competing interests.
  • Executive presence and experience working in a counselor role with senior leaders.
  • Outstanding judgement, an ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced marketing environment, constantly striving for excellence.
  • Being a self-starter and quick learner, demonstrating initiative.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs.
  • Ability to manage projects and changing priorities, multitask, and meet aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel - 30%

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education/Training-

  • 4-year degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, English, or relevant field

Required Business Experience:

  • 9+ years of internal, executive, and/or external communications or related experience
  • Healthcare communications experience mandatory

Location:

  • The Woodlands or Irving, Texas

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$99,400 - $165,600
