A Brief Overview The Executive Director (ED) of Development's Clinical Development Program oversees the fundraising activities of the Foundation's Clinical Development program. Leading a multi-level team of 5 direct reports and 15-20 indirect reports, the ED is responsible for managing and guiding the team in developing and implementing all clinical annual giving and major gift donor strategies. The ED will inspire and lead Clinical Development in significantly increasing its annual fundraising revenue goal from $20M+ to $40M+ over the course of CHOP's next campaign. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the ED will manage an individual portfolio and an annual fundraising goal of $10M+.
This position will report to the Associate Vice President of Individual Giving. The ED will have a sophisticated understanding of grateful patient family fundraising and the ability to establish and maintain strong professional partnerships with clinical leadership and pediatric care providers at all levels. The Executive Director will be an experienced, grateful, patient fundraiser and collaborative, creative leader. They will be skilled at aligning donor interests with the aspirational goals of the CHOP enterprise, as well as experience structuring gifts at all levels within a comprehensive campaign that involves complex assets, multiple family members, and donors who have transformational capacity.

The Cancer Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a pediatric cancer treatment facility staffed by internationally recognized pediatric oncologists and teams with expertise in every type of pediatric cancer. Our physicians, who have expertise in the rarest and most common pediatric cancers, work together to diagnose and treat patients using an evidence-based approach backed by the latest research advancements. * The Cardiac Center
The Cardiac Center cares for babies prior to birth, infants, children, and young adults with congenital and acquired heart conditions. As one of the largest and most multi-disciplinary specialties within the CHOP enterprise, the Center is home to more than 125 experts, including pediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, critical care intensivists, pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants. In addition, patients to the Cardiac Center have access to over 800 other staff members, all of whom are specially trained to care for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease. These include nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, psychologists, child life specialists and many more. While large in size, scope, and its interdisciplinary nature, the Cardiac Center is united and structured with a simple and unifying purpose: to provide exceptional patient care from before birth into adulthood.
* The Department of Surgery

What you will do
- Manages a growing team of major gift officers, clinical annual gift officers, coordinators and development associates organized by medical sub-specialties including The Department of Pediatrics, cardiac programs, surgery programs, cancer center and neurosciences programs, and other clinical areas as appropriate.
- Leads clinical development team in building collaborative relationships with physicians and clinical leaders that foster partnership in the creation of donor/prospect engagement strategies that strengthen fundraising effectiveness and results
- Supports and develops best practices for providing high level of service on behalf of Foundation for clinical partners
- Collaborate with Planned Giving, Annual Giving, Regional and Principal Gifts leaders, and colleagues to identify and implement cross-functional donor qualification and cultivation activities.
- Provides in-depth analysis of existing programs and develops and implements a strategic plan to deploy clinical development team that will ensure the success of the Foundation's campaign goals and creates a program that can sustain increasing levels of annual support during the campaign and beyond.
- Inspires a high-performing development program with measurable, aggressive, and attainable fundraising and programmatic goals in support of established priorities.
- Manages and leads major and clinical annual fund gift officers to successfully meet annual performance and pipeline goals. Creates and manages annual operational goals.
- Ensures staff meet expectations for professional development including active and engaged participation in trainings, meetings and conferences.
- Oversees major gift prospect and clinical annual giving assignments and manages staff productivity using best-practice donor engagement, solicitation and stewardship.
- Supports engagement of enterprise leaders as necessary for advancing clinical fundraising efforts
- Works closely with development leadership, including the Chief Development Officer, VPs, AVPs and directors to integrate programs (i.e. partnering with colleagues in institutional and event fundraising), promote volunteer involvement (i.e. Boards of Visitors for medical subspecialties) and strengthen programming in support of grateful family fundraising (i.e. signature services).
- Manages a portfolio major gifts prospects and supports principal gift work as appropriate.

Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least twelve (12) years of major and planned gifts fundraising experience including securing six-figure and seven-figure gifts Required and
- At least seven (7) years of leadership, management or supervisory experience
Required and - Previous experience in a healthcare, medical or academic related environment Preferred
