Job Summary:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced Technician to join our Winning Team. In this role, you'll partner with Operations and Engineering to maintain and improve semiconductor manufacturing equipment used in the production of state of the art MEMS products. A successful candidate will embrace our FORM values, own the electro-mechanical performance of various automated micro assembly equipment, pick and place assembly tools, electro-chemical plating wet-benches, chemical & plasma etch system, various vision metrology platforms and more. The candidate will actively engage in sustaining these systems basic functionality, performing scheduled preventative maintenance, triage/repair of unscheduled down equipment & equipment qualification.
The Equipment Maintenance Technician reports to the Senior Manufacturing Manager at our Livermore site and supports engineering owners in Livermore.
This job works Compressed Work Week (CWW). This means that each pay period you work three 12-hour shifts one week, and four 12-hour shifts the following week*. Per California law, you will be eligible for Overtime Pay (1.5X Hourly Rate) for all time worked over 8 hours in one shift (24.5 hours of OT per two week pay period). This position will work the D Shift, but training will take place A, B, C Shifts; training usually lasts a few months pending training progress.
D Shift (back half nights) - 6pm - 6:15am Wednesday - Friday and every other Saturday (+15% shift differential)
Job Description:
- Acquire a detailed understanding of the Fab processes and the equipment sets in terms of machine function, performance and process capability to ensure equipment meets or exceeds process criteria.
- Able to use company applications used to look-up, order or return spare parts from/to our spare parts inventory.
- Ability to respectfully and effectively communicate details to peers, equipment owner, and production team.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance per our equipment data base PM scheduler and escalate solutions to issues found during PM's.
- Debug electro-mechanical equipment issues and employ long term repairs per FFI 8D+ problem solving methods and communicate status and recovery plans throughout the issue resolution process.
- Innovate, act and improve when faced with equipment issues by interpreting signals from log files, system parameter set-up files and abnormal machine behavior.
- Participate and drive key CIP activities to improve equipment up-time and increase yields in an equipment and process capacity.
- Participate in equipment installation/bring-up activities including specifying facility needs, executing equipment qualification activities and closing on actions related to the job
- Maintain and make suggestions to improve work instructions or PM check lists and keep good documentation and ensure our equipment database in updated real-time and as accurate as possible with detailed information.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to the operations team to ensure equipment is properly used and maintained - on time.
- Ensure all equipment worked on has up to date calibration status & escalate if overdue.
- Use metrics to monitor equipment performance and provide insight for performance improvement.
- Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements.
- Participate on FFI ERT team; join regular training & respond to incidents in accordance with ERT requirements.
- May need to handle (collect, move, and label) and manage hazardous and universal wastes in their designated areas per regulatory requirements, and FFI's policies and procedures. Personnel who handle hazardous and universal waste must take have current training provided by FFI.
Job Requirements:
- 2 Year Technical/Associates Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semi-Conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training / work experience.
- Fluency in English Language - written & verbal
- At least 7 years of experience in high tech semiconductor or equivalent technology equipment management activity.
- The technician must be able to perform electro\mechanical\fluidic circuit troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and equipment modification. A strong understanding and working knowledge of the following equipment is also needed: pneumatic/hydraulic pump systems, multi axis servo systems, vision components, chillers & cooling systems.
- Competent with Windows OS interfaces, MS office suite and other SW programs such as sub-component interface to set-up amplifiers, power supplies, PLC code updates, etc.
- Previous experience in a wafer fabrication and/or micro assembly environment is preferred, along with the ability to provide equipment and process engineering support.
- Able to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation; demonstrate solid work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness.
- Ability to execute on projects to improve tool function and metrics. The ability to work in a cross-functional team environment, prioritize tasks, and plan for maintenance is essential.
- Use hand tools including wrenches, calipers, voltage/current meters, oscilloscopes and other various equipment technology specific tooling.
- Familiarity with Robotic / Automated handling systems & vacuum systems is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, or crouching for prolonged periods of time - up to 11 hours or more per day
- Grasping or pinching and manual dexterity
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
- Work area has fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
- Moderate to loud noise level
- Occasionally be available to work overtime and weekends when the job demands it
- Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
- Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment for normal 11.5 hour shift (excluding breaks)
The pay range for this role in Livermore, CA is between $37.15 and $48.77. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
