About the Role: The Ophthalmic Syringe Plunger business in North America is looking for an Engineer to join our team as a New Product Development Engineer, contributing to the launch of a new product. In this role, you will support and champion projects including key aspects of product development, design control, test method development, material characterization and development, technology understanding, and market/customer support. You will work directly with market facing associates and/or customers to understand customer needs and translate them into final product requirements and specifications.

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Pay and Benefits:



  • $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Responsibilities:



  • Drive effective design control and documentation to support rapid and effective product design changes and validation
  • Plan and execute technical work and designed experiments (DOE, SPC) to support product design, development, and commercialization
  • Understand the end use of products and support the definition and assessment of fitness-for-use
  • Identify critical uncertainties and apply engineering fundamentals and critical thinking skills to solve technical challenges
  • Drive the development, refinement, and validation of new test methods and material characterization techniques
  • Apply statistics to drive data-based decision making
  • Utilize Gore project practices and lean business tools to effectively prioritize, plan, and drive projects from development to completion
  • Effectively collaborate and influence on cross-functional teams including product specialists, supply chain, and external partners
  • Drive risk-based decision making based on deep technical and historical knowledge
  • Support product innovation by rapidly building prototypes and assessing feasibility of new technologies
  • Document and communicate work appropriately within the quality system

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science field with a minimum of 2 years of direct hands-on experience in a product, technology, or engineering role post-graduation
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering fundamentals to development, optimization, and troubleshooting activities with a proven track record of being "hands-on" and driving projects towards completion
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple commitments in an environment of quickly adjusting priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other teams and functions to solve problems
  • Ability to document, communicate, and present technical bodies of work both internally and externally
  • Ability to identify potential failure modes, assess root cause, and improve product performance
  • Ability to advance a technology or process through product realization and commercialization
  • Ability to embrace a technical curiosity and initiative that leads to deeper understanding
  • Ability to travel up to 10%



Desired Qualifications:



  • A minimum of 5 years of direct hands-on experience in a product, technology, or engineering role post-graduation
  • Advanced degree in science or engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a regulated quality system
