About the Department and/or College

Payroll & Tax Services is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join a great team that operates as a shared service for all Texas Tech University institutions. The department facilitates payroll and tax payments and associated reporting while ensuring compliance with internal policy and external regulations.

Major/Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities:
Development: Growth and development as assigned per the personalized development plan.
Advanced Task Execution: Complete assigned tasks with reliable accuracy, validity, and timeliness.
Data Analysis: Identify and assess data anomalies, ensuring compliance with standardized expectations.
Problem Solving: Exercise sound judgment to address deviations from standard operating procedures and seek appropriate guidance.
System Interconnectivity: Demonstrate awareness of the broader impact of payroll and tax tasks on other areas within the organization.
Resource Management: Independently locate and utilize departmental and institutional resources to optimize task completion.

Focus Areas:
Quality Assurance: Enhance data integrity and process efficiency through thorough analysis.
Problem Resolution: Suggest effective strategies for addressing and resolving payroll and tax issues.
Strategic Thinking: Contribute to the improvement of current/future payroll and tax processes and systems.
Self-Sufficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing available resources to achieve goals.

Expected Outcomes:
Consistent delivery of high-quality payroll and tax data and reporting.
Effective identification and assessment of payroll and tax issues.
Proactive contributions to process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus two years of related experience; OR combination of education and experience to equal six years.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in job related field with major coursework in accounting plus four years professional experience in government or commercial accounting and/or higher education.

Safety Information

Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all TTU employees.

Occasional Duties

Backup and support department administrative team members.

Pay Statement
