Broadwind Heavy Fabrications is an exciting company where we manufacture large scale weldments and products for wind towers, mining and other industries. Here at Broadwind we Think Big on all levels. Our Abilene, TX location is searching for Maintenance Technician III's to join our growing team! In this role, the Maintenance Tech III performs preventative maintenance and repair of machines, equipment and facilities to ensure production needs are met. This position is Monday thru Thursday from 6 am to 6 pm. We have more than one opening!

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all of the following responsibilities)


  • Working knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)
  • Experience with 480 volt electrical systems
  • Hands on experience with hydraulics
  • Ability to work with Electrical and Mechanical Systems efficiently and safely
  • Robotics knowledge a plus
  • Properly wire/program VFD
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment (mobile and stationary)
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal assistance
  • Actively support all EHS and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Performs additional requests as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications

High school diploma or GED required. Additional pertinent training classes or certification to increase maintenance knowledge is required. Prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting is required. Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.

Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability

Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve advanced mechanical and electrical issues. Understanding and reading blue prints. Ability to efficiently and independently operate all yard equipment. Ability to properly utilize power tools such as lathe, milling machine, drill press, welder, iron work, cutting torches and other miscellaneous hand tools perform functions of the job. Able to locate and reference all work instructions pertaining to current job or project including identifying needed parts & part numbers. Sense of urgency and accountability. Understanding of department KPIs, metrics and measurables.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend documents including technical information and blueprints. Ability to write reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees and as a representative of the Company.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables at the same time.

May be required to work at heights of more than 10 feet. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
