Description
Essential Functions
- Performs Oil and Gas field sample collection, including travel to locations, taking samples, and documentation with COCs and tags
- Performs Renewable Natural Gas testing by traveling to the site, setting up equipment, running gases through sample media, documenting tube numbers and run times on COCs, and shipping media to appropriate labs for analysis
- Schedules sample dates and times with site contacts
- Performs laboratory operations, including preparation, analysis, quantification of chemicals; prepares standards and samples for analysis, including quality control samples, and reports final results
- Documents work performed; maintains laboratory notebooks, recordings, software data, etc. for raw data, standard preparations, and equipment
- Performs routine daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of equipment; conducts in-depth maintenance; cleans sample media for sample collection and lab analysis
- Performs actions required to maintain accreditation; runs, reports, and passes audit samples bi-annually; completes MDL studies for each required method bi-annually, creating DOC forms for each quarter, and ensures all methods are run according to the requirements in each SOP
- Edits and reviews documents; reviews SOPs and guidance documents to ensure all procedures accurately reflect laboratory practices and meet local, state, and federal requirements
- Maintains sample custody, control, and hazardous waste disposal

Required Qualifications
- EDUCATION REQUIREMENT - Bachelor's degree in chemistry or science-related field
- Oil field experience preferred
- 1+ years in a laboratory setting; experience working with hazardous chemicals
- Able to obtain OSHA certification and H2S Safety Awareness
- Able to obtain First aid + CPR + AED certification
- Familiarity with various sample methods
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- General knowledge of chemistry and lab analysis operations and lab safety
- Mechanically inclined
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including MS Word and Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional demeanor and appearance; ability to serve as a representative of the company
- Adaptable to various environments; "on-your-feet" problem solver
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to drive for extended periods of time; valid driver's license; must be able to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance with Company policy
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office/laboratory setting with regular travel to/from an industrial environment, which will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Physical Demands

- Sitting for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Duties frequently involve repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination. Testing priorities and timelines may serve as a source of emotional stress.
- While performing the duties of this job, good manual dexterity for the use of laboratory equipment is needed. The employee is occasionally required to walk, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, grasp, and feel.
- When visiting industrial sites, use of PPE is mandatory. Duties may entail frequent exposure to environmental a industrial conditions including extreme heat/cold, wet conditions, humidity, noise, vibration, atmospheric conditions and industrial hazards. Frequent exertion of up to 20 pounds of force is required with occasional exertion of up to 30 pounds of force.
