Monday - Friday

8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Additional hours as needed to fulfill the needs of the department.

Function: Serves as the primary coordinator for all tax related matters for Trust and the liaison with the Fiduciary tax service provider and SEI's tax processing unit. Actively participates in client meetings or calls to discuss tax strategies. Collaborates with the Trust Operations Manager, Trust Compliance Officer, and the Trust Investment Manager. Serves as a liaison with the Court accounting vendor and ensures all accountings are filed with the appropriate courts and agencies. This position also serves as an approver for Discretionary Request, Special Account Reviews.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews, verifies and approves 1099-R, 1099, 1099NEC production prior to the tax service provider printing and mailing to our clients

  • Coordinates and oversees the entire tax process for all the Fiduciary Tax Returns for Trust including tax due and estimated tax due payments.

  • Responsible for coordinating and/or overseeing all tax reporting for required committees,

  • Prepares and files all the necessary reports in the Guardianship system for all the Guardianship account in Trust.

  • Responsible for establishing and enhancing procedures and forms as necessary.

  • Assists with gathering any required tax reports/for Internal and or External Auditors.

  • Assists with training new employees and cross training existing staff members on the tax process(s) for Trust.

  • Is the primary contact with tax processing vendors. Responsible for pulling data downloads to verify accuracy of the data, oversee the preparation of the 5498s, 1099R, 1099 MIS, 1099 INT/DIV/MIS and all Fiduciary tax returns. Coordinates processing of the back-end file for tax payments and charges the tax preparation fees to all applicable accounts.

  • Monitors and oversees the balancing of the Federal Withholding account. Prepares and files the 945 returns and other state withholding returns as required.

  • Constructs and/or facilitates all necessary data extractions from the Trust account system for tax report and verification.

  • Actively participates in any system/software conversion or enhancement/ special projects.

  • Serves as the liaison with the court accounting vendor including gathering data and mailing reports to the various court houses.

  • Serves on the approval team for discretionary requests and special account reviews

  • Serves as a back-up for the secondary approval of Administrative Reviews.

  • Actively participates with Relationship Managers in client meetings and or calls when clients/accounts are tax sensitive.

  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

Education:

Requires a four-year degree or equivalent. Preferred certifications CFP, CPA, CTFA. Certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire.

Experience:

Two to five years of general experience and two to five years of specialized experience required. Preferred Fiduciary Tax knowledge.

Physical Demands:

Operates a keypad device 70-80% throughout the day. Operates electronic/office equipment 50-60% throughout the day. The primary parts of the body involved in performing these task are the fingers, thumb, hand, wrist and elbows, legs, feet, lower torso, and upper torso. Sitting is required 60-70% of the day. Standing is 20-30% of the day. Maximum lift 0-10 pounds 0-10% per day.
