The MLA will be required to complete the NMLS registration process and MLA training program within the first six (6) months of employment. The MLA will provide professional and timely contact with members and loan officers for the origination of first mortgage and equity loan products. These functions will include but are not limited to, taking loan applications, pre-qualifying members, and assisting with the collection of documentation necessary to complete the application process. The MLA position may serve as a fundamental basis for the preparation of a future MLO position. The Mortgage Loan Associate is also responsible for overseeing the upfront file review for completeness and accuracy, handling third-party orders for the file, reviewing Desktop Underwriter (DU) requested documents, working in Sharepoint for membership information and monitoring all loan origination reports for appropriate compliance and file handling (ECOA, Incomplete File, Cancel/Withdraw/Denials, Change in Circumstance (COC) and all other assigned reporting procedures. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: To originate and analyze loan applications for eligibility with credit union loan programs. Provides member education for real estate loan products, conduct applicant interviews, offers alternative loan products when appropriate and cross-sells other products and services offered by the credit union as directed. Oversees upfront file review for accuracy and completeness; loans are submitted into the pipeline from the Mortgage Loan Officers and reviewed per company checklists and procedures. MLA works closely with the MLO and/or member to obtain vital upfront documents. Places orders with all up-front third party vendors, such as Appraisal/AMC, Title/Escrow, Flood, Symitar membership review and any additional required vendor service. Monitors all compliance and loan origination reports to ensure the pipeline is appropriately processed and meets regulatory and compliances timelines. Handles large incoming call volume directly from members and/or from the branch network, Member Contact Center or other company departments. Assists with the preparation, management or involvement with home seminars and/or other professional webinars and presentations. The MLA will work closely with other departments within the credit union including but not limited to the branch network, marketing and Wescom Insurance and Financial Services teams. Responsible for building relationships with financial services professionals outside of the credit union such as realtors, builders, accounting firms, financial planners, and others. Assists designated Mortgage Loan Officer with the collection of applicant documentation, customer service requests such as follow up items and generally that which is customary in the role of the MLO. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: High School education required. 2 years of real estate work experience and/or within a related field preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Successful NMLS registration required within first six (6) months of employment. Planning and organizational skills, excellent communication skills, both written and oral, time management skills, interpersonal skills, human relations, effective sales, problem solving, strong sense of team responsibility, can work independently, and commitment to Credit Union's Mission and Vision Statements, and Core Values. The following are desirable, knowledge of the FICS and Symitar systems, Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter (DU), and ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including occasional weekends. COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union's operating system and specialized software required for performance of position. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Possess sufficient mathematical skills to compute principal and interest payments, loan to value and debt to income ratios and other, typically used calculations in the real estate finance field.
