Job Details

Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Patient Services, the Director is typically responsible for a strategic business unit or an entity within a strategic business unit. The Director may also head-up a functional area. This position works with senior management to help create and implement strategic goals that are designed to grow the business. The Director typically oversees a management staff and provides guidance on strategic and operational issues and/or client initiatives. The Director typically manages a budget and may help to develop new business to support budget projections.

  • The Director Provides operational and account leadership on multiple patient services client accounts.

  • Responsible for key client meetings and interactions.

  • Overall responsibility for timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of all services including risk identification and mitigation.

  • Manages operational relationship with Client including program performance, escalations, and Business Reviews.

Team Management

  • Creates mission and works with management team to ensure a clear understanding of team mission and goals.

  • Works with management team to help identify skills that are needed for projects or work activities and match skill requirements with talent.

  • Develops performance standards for management team and measures success against performance standards.

  • . Partner with cross functional organizational departments to support business growth to create innovative business expansion and/or new services.

  • Responsible for adherence to contracts as well as patient services tools and standards.

Technical Skills and Expertise

  • Stays abreast of industry trends and important pending legislation impacting business.

  • May maintain specialize technical skills in a disease state, hold expert medical knowledge on reimbursement strategies, and/or possesses, functional knowledge.

  • Identifies and collaborates with internal and external resources and experts.

Training and Mentoring

  • Develops succession plans for key management team members.

  • Recruits, trains and develops operational leaders.

  • Provides leadership to team and participates as facilitator for learning programs.

  • Oversight/guidance/evaluation of Senior Manager effectiveness..

  • Coaching/developing Senior Managers to identify root cause and remediation plans for operational challenges.

Financial Accountability

  • P&L accountability of aligned Patient Services business unit.

  • Allocates human and financial resources as appropriate to ensure objectives are accomplished.

  • Trains managers on financial matters related to performing job responsibilities.

  • Responsible for interpreting contractual language for Senior Managers to successfully manage program activities within contractual terms.

Quality and Compliance

  • Overall responsibility for timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of all services.

  • Identifies areas for risk.

  • Fosters proactive, continued quality improvement.

  • Ensures and maintains highest integrity and honesty in all business activities.

  • Works closely with Operational Excellence teams to ensure successful service delivery and project implementation.

Organizational Leadership

  • Responsible for corporate culture to include embracing and fostering company values.

  • Supports company programs and initiatives.

  • Represents the company to associates and the public.

  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.

  • Supports company practices.

Experience and Education:

Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education; normally requires a minimum of seven (7) years of experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of reimbursement and patient assistance programs and database elements and functionality; operational policies and processes, particularly distribution/interfaces.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.

  • Ability to proficiently use computer and standard office equipment.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks along a parallel process.

  • Health care research and analysis skills sufficient to support payer research, healthcare policy library, and state management.

  • Ability to resolve associate issues effectively and efficiently.

  • Critical thinking skills.

  • Strong industry and company business knowledge.

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
