PROCESS ENGINEER

1st Shift

Under the direction of the Process Engineering Supervisor, the Process Engineer implements improvements of the various manufacturing processes. Specific areas of concentration are process safety, quality, ergonomics, and productivity.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Participate in determining root cause of non-conforming Finished Goods from internal issues or customer complaints through lab evaluations.
  • Redesign or modify existing manufacturing processes to improve safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Create and/or modify work instructions for manufacturing processes.
  • Manage capital projects, including preparation of project scope and justification. Investigate vendor/equipment alternatives to support development of projects.
  • Prepare safety review information and update Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) or Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID). Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reviews.
  • Participate in VPC and 6S activities.
  • Report all initiatives to supervisor and provide status updates on a regular basis.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education level strongly preferred: Bachelor's degree in engineering or chemistry.
  • Experience level: One year or more of engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply complex mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system and other office machinery. AutoCAD experience is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production facility. Safety shoes, glasses, respirators, fire retardant uniform and earplugs may be required when performing certain functions.
