Primary Purpose:

The Principal Business Systems Analyst position supports the Distribution Planning organization with meeting its objectives and goals by using broad IT and business knowledge to implement IT solutions or process changes that address business needs. In a leadership capacity, this position will develop requirements, facilitate and execute Business Domain testing, and provide training to ensure that the IT solution reflects the functionality necessary to address business goals and objectives. Additionally this position will provide leadership to identify, develop and implement effective technology solutions that address complex initiatives to include solution analysis and design. This position may participate in business forums for developing tools, standards, policies, and processes, as well as provides application support to ensure that end-user issues are managed to resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • In a leadership capacity, develops and manages requirements to ensure that the IT solution reflects the functionality necessary to address business goals and objectives. Includes data analysis, modeling and process management as part of requirements facilitation. Models systems and data to a logical level, user interface design and prototyping, decision tables/trees, data flows, modeling and processes using various notation (use cases, class diagrams, activity diagrams, business process modeling notation.) Envisions and drives tactical and strategic changes that add significant business value. Develops and drives plans from conception to completion (plans, schedules, budgets, resources, scope of work, deliverables). Schedule and facilitate project meetings, such as process design or requirements meetings. Guide group through the use of presentations, white boards, process flows, or other techniques to drive toward and finalize decisions.
  • Provides and leads application support efforts to ensure that end-user issues are managed to resolution. Leverage strong domain knowledge of systems and processes to advise team on troubleshooting issues and developing solutions.
  • The analyst will guide and assists business Product Owners in understanding and executing their role. The analyst will drive collaboration amongst stakeholders to make decisions and prioritize deliverables. In a leadership capacity, the analyst will facilitate and execute Business Domain Testing and may participate in Quality Assurance domain level testing to ensure that the IT solution reflects the functionality necessary to address business goals and objectives.
  • Provides leadership and expertise to identify, develop and implement effective technology solutions that address complex initiatives - this includes solution analysis and design.
  • Leads development and execution of user training and business domain testing to assure proper operation and use of systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).


Hybrid Schedule:



  • Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Finance or Industrial Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • 8+ years related experience.
  • Ability to provide project leadership in the areas of requirements development, business domain testing and training.
  • Writing unambiguous, verified requirements to a testable level (functional and non-functional requirements).
  • Extensive knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of testing methodology and tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of technology system interfaces and data integration; networks, operating systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of business; process, roles/responsibility, industry.
  • Data analysis and Organization modeling.
  • Requirements workshops/interviews/observation.
  • Decision and costs benefit analysis.
  • Excellent communications (oral and written), interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Facilitation and Organizational skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Detail oriented and committed to a high level of accuracy.
  • Possesses strong domain knowledge in multiple supported business processes and technologies.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree Advanced degree.
  • Certifications in Business Analysis, Project Management, and Process Improvement.
