Overview:

The Performance Assurance Group in the Integrated Operations Division (IOSD), within the Facilities and Operations Directorate (F&O), is seeking an F&O Training Program Lead. This position is responsible for providing overall direction and management of the training program for the Facilities and Operations Directorate (F&O), including FIID, FMD, IOSD, LSD, LMD, LPD & UD. The F&O Training Program Lead is expected to implement a comprehensive, effective training program to support F&O.

As part of our team, this position will establish new and maintain current programs by outlining training protocols in accordance with SBMS Training & Qualification Management System. This position will provide guidance and interface between divisions on training topics and requirements. The F&O Training Program Lead will oversee and facilitate activities of F&O training staff while performing/directing performance of activities.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain, and serve as the interpretive authority of the F&O training manual and associated training procedures outlining training protocols specific to F&O in accordance with SBMS Training & Qualification Management System.

  • Provide guidance, collaborate and interface with divisions on training topics and requirements.

  • Periodically evaluate the F&O training program against requirement documents and update the training program as appropriate.

  • Assess the need for additional training programs based on F&O roles and responsibilities such as front-line supervisor qualifications, facility engineering and asset management programs.

  • Advocate for adequate resources for training activities and program implementation

  • Oversee activities of F&O training staff and perform/direct performance of the following activities, as needed:

    • Conduct training needs assessments to identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by specific jobs.

    • Conduct job and task analyses to identify critical tasks and task elements requiring training.

    • Develop and maintain lesson plans, instructional aids, and tests necessary to support initial and continuing training.

    • Implement developed training in various settings (i.e., classroom, OJT, mockup).

  • Manage training assessment program, including completing and/or assigning and tracking completion of required assessments.

  • Manage training records and provide support for maintenance and storage of these records.

  • Participate in OM&S work control procedure development and implementation, as needed

  • Liaison to Human Resources-led Training and Development opportunities such as career paths, talent development and Office of Technical Training.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree with 8 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience and/or course material in education or training

  • 4 years of experience in an operations and/or maintenance environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management experience

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people having a wide range of technical and scientific backgrounds

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.

  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.

Special Requirements:

  • Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.

  • Q or L clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
