Overview
The position of DSP Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing core functions at all facilities on the shift they are assigned. Core functions include; training DSP staff, monitor progress of clients, serve as contact for families/guardians, providers and payees, coordinate client meetings, ensure supplies are purchased and provided for the house, and to complete financial matters for residents as needed.
Responsibilities
Key Accountability * Assist, coordinate and provide goal development per ICP, as well as on-going supports for Home Habilitation. * Schedule and lead quarterly client meetings with their supports and providers. And organize other meetings as needed to discuss goal progress for each client. * Be the point of contact for payees, providers, and other supports. * Complete daily home hab documentation as needed. * Keep the IDT informed of significant events and/or abnormal responses per treatment plan. Review residential occurrences, ensuring follow-up completed and crisis intervention provided as indicated. * Provide medication administration. * Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the guidelines of all regulatory and accreditation bodies to include but not limited to; IME, Polk County Services, CARF, DIA, HUD, MCO. * Advocate with resident during community integration and transport residents as needed and as assigned. Ensure adequate monthly activities are organized and completed. * Maintain files of all materials, resources, and forms necessary to facilitate the work of the residents residing in the homes. Ensure house and shift is supplied with necessary supplies: food, household, and office supplies. * Complete all admission paperwork with clients moving into the home and discharge paperwork for those who discharge from the program. * Train DSP staff by providing orientation and ongoing trainings. * Coordinate and complete monthly household meetings with the clients to discuss issues going on in the home, and to complete monthly drills. * Ensure the activities of daily living are completed by staff and clients. * Attend and participate in staff meetings. * Monitor the activity and grocery credit cards and collect the receipts for the Team Leader. * May be asked to participate in the on-call rotation with other leaders. * Mediate client and employee grievances and communicate with Team Leader, following established UnityPoint Health guidelines. Basic UPH Performance Criteria * Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. * Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. * Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. * Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding our organization. * Completes all annual education and competency requirements as required. * Is knowledgeable of agency compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of the Corporate Compliance Committee. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by program/department staff related to compliance.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED Required. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Experience: A minimum requirement of 2 years' experience working with adults and mental health. License(s)/Certification(s): Maintain a valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Adult CPR, First Aid and Mandatory Dependent Adult Abuse certification. Successful completion of a Medication Management course that is approved by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals and/or HCBS, within six-months of hire. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to speak, read and write fluent English. Ability to read and comprehend common terminology of the mental health field. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Must possess good interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure. Ability to remain emotionally neutral when intervening with clients. Ability to establish and maintain boundaries with clients. Must enjoy working with people. Other: Support and abide by departmental and agency policies and procedures. Perform job in safe manner, insuring safety for self, team members and residents. Perform other duties as assigned.
