Utility Encroachment Inspector

RK&K is hiring an experienced Utility Encroachment Inspector to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in Wilmington, NC. As a Utility Encroachment Inspector with RK&K you will perform reviews of utility encroachments from water, sewer, communications, power, and gas within NCDOT projects to verify the conformance with NCDOT installation requirement within active and future NCDOT projects in southeastern NC.

Essential Function

• Review third-party encroachments within active and future NCDOT projects ROW
• Understand the design of project NCDOT plans and utility installation within ROW
• Communicate with NCDOT Utility and Resident Engineers
• Communicate with third party encroachment representatives
• Verify all encroachment plans and forms are complete
• Conduct field preconstruction meetings
• Complete field reviews of utility installations including inspect of work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, and right-of-way issue resolution

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of inspection experience
• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with utilities and NCDOT construction processes
• Experience with NCDOT encroachment procedures
