- The primary purpose of this position is to perform various duties in the Special Process Department with minimal supervision.
- Assist operators in furnace operations, machining, surface treating, cleaning, and coating according to manufacturing and customer requirements.
- Grit blast components, including TBC and bond coat removal, before inspection, repair, or coating.
- Operate shot peen equipment.
- Operate and adjust all manual, walk-in, and automatic blast machine parameters.
- Move parts in and out of the walk-in blaster using forklifts or other appropriate means.
- Transport components to various workstations within the department and facility.
- Assist in performing preventative maintenance of blasting equipment, including maintaining records and logs.
- Assist in maintaining a clean work environment.
- Maintain and replenish department consumable materials such as blasting, peening, and water jet media for blasting and cleaning.
- Assist in performing minor adjustments and repairs to various department equipment, tools, and machines.
- Retrieve and return tools and fixtures that are used for processing components.
- To perform and use JHAs related to blasting.
- Assist in loading components onto fixtures for processing.
- Responsibility for the Safety of Others.
- Inattention, thoughtlessness, or careless equipment operation or performance of duties cause lost-time injuries to self or others.
- The equipment used (computer-controlled and vacuum electric furnace, various computer-controlled machining centers, chemical clean/strip lines, HVOF/APS Coating equipment, EDM, Lasers, and Water Jet) should not be damaged under normal use and care.
- The employee in this position follows established procedures, exercising judgment in selecting methods or procedures to perform setups, plan, and make decisions based on knowledge of standards, policies, and procedures.
- Responsibility for Material or Products not caught immediately results in product failure or significant customer impact.
- Perform preventive maintenance (daily/weekly/monthly) of blast equipment.
- Routine maintenance of the equipment is needed.

Required Skills / Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in an industrial environment.
- Minimum of 1 year experience blasting metal materials with various blast media.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Be able to get certified and maintain a forklift license.
- Ability to read, write, complete simple forms, and understand simple written instructions.
- The ability to perform math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division also requires using formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, or diagrams.
- Capability to train other employees on specific skills.

- Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.

- Complete the Industrial Reading Test with a 70% or better score.
- Completed the Shop Math Test with a 70% or better score.
- Moderate physical effort is needed with bending, stretching, walking, and standing.
- Gripping and grasping tools is common, as is the use of mechanical controls such as buttons, knobs, and levers.
- A crane is available for lifting and carrying parts, fixtures, or cutting tools weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
- Constant mental and visual attention needed to perform repetitive and variable responsibilities.
- Normal or corrected vision and hearing needed.
- The employee must wear a full hooded air supply respirator when completing some job operations.
- Possible contact with coating materials, fumes, and chemicals.
- Also, exposure to extreme heat when operating furnaces.
- Hazards Care should be taken when operating equipment and lifting and moving materials and tools to avoid accidents that result in lost time and injuries.
- Safety goggles/glasses and safety shoes are needed for safety in the production area ear protection, gloves, full-face hooded air supply respirator, throwaway coveralls, and aprons are advisable.
