Overview

Provides advice and counsel on legal matters involving the Fulton Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries.



Responsibilities

    Possesses general knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations affecting the operation of a multibank, multistate financial holding company, including corporate and securities law, federal and state banking law, consumer compliance regulations, contracts, uniform commercial code, employment law, real estate law, trusts and estates, taxation, and intellectual property.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in conducting appropriate legal research in response to legal inquiries. Provides timely legal advice and counsel to directors, officers and employees of the Corporation and its subsidiaries. Advises the Corporation and its subsidiaries of the requirements of applicable Federal and state bank related statutes and regulations.
  • Works with representatives from the Corporation and its subsidiaries to develop and or modify practices and procedures to conform to applicable legal requirements and corporate policies. Serves on or provides legal advice to various Corporate task forces. Drafts, reviews, revises, and negotiates a variety of legal documents involving the interests of the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
  • Depending on assigned responsibilities, ensures that the Corporation and or its subsidiaries are adequately represented in certain pending or threatened litigation.
  • In consultation with the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel, exercises discretion in determining what legal work will be delegated to outside counsel.
  • Actively manages outside legal counsel by directing or approving all key strategic and substantive actions in significant legal matters for which he or she is responsible, manages the costs of outside legal services by actively managing the legal services and, where appropriate, using alternative fee arrangements or project budgets for outside legal services.
  • Keeps the General Counsel and or Deputy General Counsel, as well as other appropriate people in the Corporation apprised of the status of all legal matters being worked, whether in house or assigned to outside counsel, ensures that the required services are provided in a timely manner.
  • Keeps abreast of applicable legislation, regulations and other legal developments affecting the operation of the Corporation and its subsidiaries, informs appropriate employees of the Corporation of relevant new and amended legislation and regulations.
  • Works effectively with regulators, other legal counsel, and other outside parties in order to promote the Corporation's and or its subsidiaries' business objectives.


Qualifications

Education

Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree. Specialty: From an American Bar Association accredited law school. (Required)

Experience

5 or more years Conveying thoughts and information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Ability to identify, analyze and provide advice and counsel on complex legal issues, including the ability to make recommendations on significant corporate matters. Ability to understand business needs and desired results and to apply applicable laws and regulations to this business understanding in order to render useful and timely advice to the Corporation so that its business objectives can be achieved in a manner that is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Possess and have the ability to effectively exercise sound legal and business judgment. (Preferred)

5 or more years Relevant legal as an attorney in a law firm or in-house capacity. (Required)

This role may perform other job duties as assigned by the manager. Each employee of the Organization, regardless of position, is accountable for reading, understanding and acting on the contents of all Company-assigned and/or job related Compliance Programs, regulations and policies and procedures, as well as ensure that all Compliance Training assignments are completed by established due dates. This includes but is not limited to, understanding and identifying compliance risks impacting their department(s), ensuring compliance with applicable laws or regulations, and escalating compliance risks to the appropriate level of management.



Pay Transparency

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges on all job postings regardless of state. We set standard salary ranges for our roles based on the position, function, and responsibilities, as benchmarked against similarly sized companies in our industry. Specific compensation offered will be determined based on a combination of factors including the candidate's knowledge, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials. The salary range may vary based on geographic location.

The salary range for this position is $94,200.00 - $157,000.00 annually.

Additional Compensation Components

This job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units. This job is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive compensation plan subject to individual and company performance.
