Job Summary

Under direction of the IT Manager of the Food Chain Cluster, provide IT support and website maintenance for designated unit/department. Responsibilities include desktop set-up and support, network administration, audio/visual and videoconferencing support for teaching and events, and website maintenance. Install and maintain software configure systems; document methods install and troubleshoot basic client-based network hardware, printers, switches, NICs and NAM problems. Design, develop, and maintain website content using web content management systems. Create and prepare graphics, photos, videos, and other content for unit websites.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
* High School diploma or equivalent experience.
* 2 years' experience providing support for Windows and macOS systems including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware and software for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
* 1 year experience working in an environment utilizing enterprise solutions from vendors like Google and Microsoft.
* Knowledge of web content management systems (CMS) and ability to optimize photos and videos to be used on websites.
* Skill to research and utilize documentation to solve desktop hardware and software problems.
* Basic understanding of networking including DNS, DHCP, FTP, POP and IMAP.
* Time management and multitasking skills necessary to handle work in a high volume, fast turnover environment.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with web content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress with advanced technical knowledge of and experience with web site usability, accessibility, security, responsive design, and performance testing.
* Experience providing desktop support (installation, support, and problem resolution) for Linux systems.
* Knowledge of University operations, technical infrastructure, and the software applications used to support its business operations.
* Diplomatic communication & interpersonal skills to provide technical support.

Department Overview
The Food Chain Cluster provides administrative and technical support to the independent departments of Animal Science and Nutrition within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. We provide support services in the areas of contracts and grants, purchasing, travel and reimbursements, and information technology.

Department Specific Job Scope
Reports to the IT Manager for general supervision. This position is one of a team of IT support staff providing desktop support, security, software, and configurations for approximately 700 computers and 475 faculty, staff, and students in the academic departments of Animal Science and Nutrition, and the Food Chain administrative cluster. Duties center on the support of mission critical instruction, research, and administration.

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
