Position Highlights The University of Arizona, Counseling and Psych Services is seeing a full time, licensed mental health clinician (LMSW, LCSW, LAC, LPC, LAMFT, LMFT, etc) to serve the students within the College of Medicine - Tucson. A sucessful applicant will primarily provide psychotherapy services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and planning.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide in-person and/or telehealth counseling services using culturally informed and culturally relevant practices to medical students, including assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy treatment. May address life skills, the treatment of mental illnesses, as well as substance abuse to College of Medicine medical students.
  • Respond to student crisis situations and provided suicide assessment as needed.
  • Establish rapport quickly and communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Develop appropriate individual treatment plans for students.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team with Campus Health's Counseling & Psych Services
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in an electronic record system consistent with ethical guidelines, state statutes, and internal policies.
  • Use information technology to support and improve integrated wellness care.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Excellent at assisting students with identifying their needs, setting goals, crisis management, and providing referrals as needed.

  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Self-awareness of how one's own identities and life experiences impact their counseling strategies and interactions with students.
  • Proficiency in addressing intersectional issues of culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other aspects of identity within the context of psychotherapy with emerging adults.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to racial trauma and a commitment to anti-racism.
  • Skilled with various technological tools including Zoom, MS Teams, email, spreadsheets, online scheduling, etc.
  • An innovative mindset in addressing college mental health needs.
  • Ability to effectively work with a extensive
    population on a broad range of clinical needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling or other counseling-related field, in compliance with the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
  • Licensed (LMSW, LCSW, LAC, LPC, LAMFT, LMFT) and in good standing.
  • If licensed at the Associate level, ability to attain full independent licensure within 24 months of hire.
  • If independently licensed in another state, ability to attain Arizona independent licensure within 6
    months of hire.
  • Five years of related work experience, including
    two years of experience providing counseling services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Independently Licensed (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the State of Arizona, in good standing.
  • Prior clinical experience in a multidisciplinary clinic setting.
  • English/Spanish bilingual.
  • Work experience providing psychotherapy to college students.
  • Training in short-term treatment modalities.
  • Experience in clinical work with trauma, anxiety, depression, risk/crisis assessment and management.
