We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Program Manager to oversee and manage complex defense projects from inception through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management within the defense industry, with a proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, and teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The Program Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams and Customers, ensuring all project goals are met while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.

Nationality Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary customer contact.
  • Successfully manage similar or related programs for a business stream achieving customer requirements along with meeting the business goals of schedule, budget, deliveries, risk management and winning new/follow on business.
  • Define project milestones, deliverables, and performance metrics in alignment with Customer needs and expectations.
  • Oversee the execution of multiple projects, ensuring they stay within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Monitor program performance against plan, cost and delivery, and identify appropriate corrective actions by conducting periodic cost, schedule, performance and risk reviews.
  • Prioritize, identify and obtain the required resources, including facilities, tools and personnel to achieve successful project execution.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact project timelines or outcomes.
  • Proactively resolve project issues by working with internal teams and external partners.
  • Supply accurate cost and schedule information in the preparation of bids and reports.
  • Provide effective leadership, manage all customer interfaces, and communicate effectively to Senior Management, team members and peers to establish a common understanding of Program Scope and plan for successful program execution
  • Motivate the team by communicating a shared vision, providing direction, setting goals and mentoring, creating a team environment that encourages people to work towards common objectives
  • Carry out other duties that may reasonably be required by the Program Director in support of department activities
  • Experience in new product implementation new product development.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in program management.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong written, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail and problem solving-skills.
  • This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Desired Skills:

  • Experienced Project Manager with a successful track record in setting up and executing full project lifecycle, including concept, launch, product development, transition to production, product delivery and in service support.
  • Educated to degree level in Business/Engineering.
  • Excellent leadership, delegation and teamwork skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and persuading skills at all levels in the business.
  • High commercial and business awareness, customer focus and sales orientation.
  • Resilient - able to operate effectively under stretching project constraints, pressure and always displays sound judgement
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplined projects with a focus on systems engineering and integration and/or manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • A background in Maritime / Defense industry would be advantageous.
  • Ability to travel.

The expected compensation for this role is between $100,000-$120,000 annually. Please note, this is the expected compensation however, Ultra Maritime considers many factors in determining compensation prior to offer, such as: responsibilities and scope of role, candidate's work experience and education related to position, applicable certifications or trainings, business and market conditions.
