Work Schedule
8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday-Friday with evening and weekend hours required, as necessary. Extensive travel.
Primary Purpose of Position
Recruit, counsel and advise prospective first-year and transfer students for UNC Charlotte. Assist with recruitment events, review applications for admission and render admissions decisions.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management experience in the student services or related field; or equivalent.

Essential Job Duties

  • Counsel and advise prospective first-year and transfer students on admissions requirements, policies, and procedures on location or virtually, via phone and email.
  • Render admissions decisions on applications, applying appropriate criteria, and using discernment and good judgment.
  • Ability to plan recruitment events and conduct information sessions for prospective students.
  • Travel extensively in North Carolina, occasionally out of state.
  • Manage recruitment territory by conducting high school visits, attending college fairs, interacting with diverse student and family populations and develop relationships with high school counselors.
  • Work non-traditional hours as needed.

Other Work Responsibilities
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred and a minimum of one year of related experience working in an admission or advising role from a non-profit, higher-education institution.
  • Preference is given to candidates who are recent UNC Charlotte graduates.
  • Special consideration will be given to those with experience working with and/or recruiting students to UNC Charlotte.
  • Experience making independent decisions with discernment and good judgment.
  • Experience in Slate and Google Workspace.
  • Experience with presenting groups both in person and in a virtual format.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional verbal/nonverbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to accomplish essential job duties.
