We are seeking an internally driven, results oriented Assistant Director of Wealth & Investment Product: Retirement Plans to create and drive key initiatives for the NM Retirement Plan Services (RPS) product line.

What's the role?

The primary responsibility of this position is to be the critical link between RPS product line strategy and daily product line functionality. The successful person in this position is a doer, a project leader, a people leader, an investigator, a savvy networker, and an entrepreneur. This person understands what role RPS plays within an advisor's practice, within NM Wealth and within the broader NM Enterprise.

What this role needs:

  • Serve as a catalyst for product development through co-creation with the Field, project management, technical, operational, compensation, investment, and regulatory professionals.
  • Pursues a curiosity tied to investment technology and the ability to conduct and methodically assess current and available offerings for impact and suitability.
  • Executes initiatives that lead to desired economic outcomes for the product line.
  • Strong communicator and presenter to deliver RPS product line concepts, updates, changes, and training to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for leading business decisions that impact scope, risk, business value, schedule, and budget. Provides input in the department-wide prioritization process.
  • Responsible for partnering across the home office on regulatory issues impacting assigned products. Recommends changes to products, programs, or processes to maintain compliance.
  • May lead a team of individuals and provide responsibility for their growth and development.

Desired personal attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field or equivalent experience, advanced degree (such as MBA) preferred.
  • Generally, eight or more years of proven ability in financial services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA, recordkeeping capabilities, fiduciary firms and services, and the retirement plan industry, including product, pricing, marketing, customer preferences, marketplace standards, broker-dealer offerings, future trends, and servicing
  • Experience with Envestnet Retirement Solutions and NetX360 a plus
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with an outstanding ability to lead others around timelines and prioritization of work.
  • Validated ability to lead large, cross-departmental initiatives; driving design and business value
  • Ability to anticipate the impact of decisions, future consequences, and trends
  • Ability to build strong internal and external networks and utilize resources in the industry
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and ability to make effective formal presentations across various levels in the organization. May require negotiation with internal or external business partners in difficult situations.
  • Has a strong interest in people development and leading others formally or informally.
  • Professional certification - CLU, ChFC, CFA, CFP, CPA, or similar designation recommended.
  • FINRA Series 6 or 7.

This position has been classified as a Registered Representative under NMIS guidelines and requires fingerprinting.

Pay Range - Start:

$102,060.00

Pay Range - End:

$189,540.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
