Grid and Control Center technology department is in the process of embarking major transformation journey implementing ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System), DERMS (Distributed Energy resource management system) and supports & maintains legacy applications within Electric distribution & transmission and Gas area to meet identified business goals and priorities. Position Summary Oversees IT solutions, development, delivery, and operations of PG&E Electric transmission & distribution system applications. Directs teams responsible for solution/portfolio strategy & planning, business architecture, requirements definition, program and project delivery & deployment, application development, testing/quality assurance, and operations & maintenance support. Ensures alignment of the IT strategy, services, investment decisions, and delivery structures and processes with the business units (i.e. Electric Transmission & Distribution) and enterprise IT direction and objectives. Manages operations vendor performance via service level agreements, key performance indicators, and continuous improvements. Builds and leads a strong process framework thatestablishes guardrails, standards, best practices, and helps to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of Electric transmission & distribution systems. Leads the team in exploring new solutions and operations strategies, solving complex technical issues, identifying reusable design patterns, driving continuous improvement of our operational standards, leveraging performance metrics, and growing vendor partnerships. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable salary range is: Bay Area Minimum: $159,000 Bay Area Maximum: $271,000 Job Responsibilities
- Analyze project delivery and operations portfolio performance, recommending changes in investment and strategy to achieve goals. Brief IT and business leadership on current performance and necessary adjustments.
- Identify, analyze, value, and execute system investments in IT assets (applications and infrastructure) to meet service level expectations and compliance requirements. Manage the lifecycle of existing IT assets and retire non-performing assets.
- Support the identification, analysis, valuation, and execution of system investments in IT assets to enable new and transformational business capabilities.
- Provide and manage operational support and maintenance for enterprise system applications, including oversight of 24x7 operations support via on-call onshore and offshore teams.
- Recognize and prioritize the most important work to position the organization for future success.
- Accountable for management of project execution and operations & maintenance budgets, including strategies to resolve variances and reduce cost to meet budget optimization targets.
- Manage vendor contracts, enterprise license agreements, and relationships, including the administration of vendor software in production, forecasts, and renewals.
- Develop and manage service level agreements with business partners and peers.
- Implement best practices for staffing, EEO, diversity, performance management, development, reward and recognition, and retention.
- Ensure staff has the resources and skills needed to support all Grid Technology applications and assets, including cross-training team members to ensure depth of expertise.
- Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and governance processes, including alignment with cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability management, and resolution of security patching related to owned applications, software, and infrastructure components.
- Facilitate intra-departmental collaboration and cohesiveness between areas of delivery and support.
- Demonstrate the ability to deploy multiple management disciplines and techniques synergistically, such as value management, human capital management, information management, optimization, performance measurement, communication, and governance.
- Accountable for the team's administrative duties, such as quarterly/yearly reviews, time entry, training, expenses, etc.
- Contribute to the evolution of best-in-class DevSecOps practices within the Control Center IT organization and across the company.
- Increase maturity in ITIL best practices and align with the enterprise, including Change Management, Release Management, Problem Management, Work Management, and Incident Management.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
- B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, information technology, engineering, or other relevant field required
- 8 or more years of experience in programming/systems analysis, project management, and/or IT strategy planning or other related area required
Desired Qualifications
- M.S., M.B.A., or advanced degree in business administration or computer science preferred.
- Knowledge of utility business/industry
- Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in functionality of application systems specific to Electric distribution and transmission functional areas
- Experience in supporting Grid & Control Center Operations for Applications like OMS/ADMS/SCADA/EMS
- At least 3 years in a people-leadership role
- Experience in SLA management process and ability to work with IT vendors/partners for developing and negotiating new services
- Experience in collaborating with Enterprise infrastructure support teams involving Network support, Data Center, Security, Application monitoring, Integration support, etc.
