Job Summary:

The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) is looking for a quality assurance manager for the Environmental Health Division (EHD). This role will ensure that WSLH is maintaining and improving quality assurance systems in the environmental testing areas of the lab. We are looking for someone who is experienced in quality assurance management, data analysis and environmental accreditations.

Responsibilities of the EHD QA Manager include:
o Follow direction of Nonclinical leadership regarding EHD QA priorities
o Train, mentor and support QA staff/managers in EHD sections
o Assist sections with QA issues and corrective action
o Manage external audits
o Accreditation management
o Manage standard operating procedures
o Represent nonclinical needs on labwide initiatives
o Oversee QA Manual updates
o Track code changes, accreditation rule changes, 40 CFR 149 and reference method updates
o Coordinate and assist with records management
o Improve consistency of QA actions across EHD
o Coordinate and assist with systems and methods audits of EHD sections annually
o Conduct trend analysis
o Manage the development or acquisition of QA/GLP resources and training
o Coordinate division-wide calibration services
o Assist with QA related on-Boarding/off-boarding for nonclinical staff


Responsibilities:
Compiles and classifies reports in support of a specific compliance program, assists leadership in regulatory report creation, coordinates notification issuance, and assists with the development and implementation of institution-wide policies to ensure compliance with institutional policies and/or laws and regulations.

  • 20% Assists leadership with developing and publishing compliance reports in accordance with established laws and regulations
  • 40% Audits and serves as a subject matter expert and point of contact for potentially affected units and affiliated organizations, ensuring appropriate notices are issued relating to compliance
  • 20% Collaborates with other institutional compliance subject matter experts to review procedures and make change recommendations to leadership
  • 10% Provides EHD quality assurance and good lab practice training material, templates, and tools. Leads QA Team. Conducts general QA onboarding for EHD staff, mentor QA staff.
  • 5% Monitors changes to requirements and ensures that the QA program is meeting regulations. This includes managing QA manual and SOP updates for the division(s)
  • 5% Coordinate division-wide external audits, equipment calibrations, complete internal pipette calibrations

Education:

Preferred
Master's Degree

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, biology, lab science, quality assurance or closely related field


Qualifications:

-Minimum of 5 years of quality assurance coordination experience
-Minimum of 3 years of data analysis experience, minimum of 2 years of lab experience
-Working knowledge of environmental laboratory accreditations: Wisconsin DNR Certification, the National Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) drinking water certification.
-Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
-Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, verbal and written communication
-Highly motivated, able to self-direct and manage continuous improvement


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Work hours: 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
