Requisition ID# 163543 Job Category: Administrative / Clerical Job Level: Individual Contributor Business Unit: Operations - Other Work Type: Hybrid Job Location: Oakland Department Overview The Ignitions Analysis team is responsible for understanding where wildfire risk has actualized, in terms of PG&E facility ignition events, to inform experts where there may be gaps in our barriers intended to prevent wildfires in support of PG&E's stand that Catastrophic Wildfires Shall Stop. Ignition Analysis is a team charged with maintaining the source of truth on PG&E facility ignitions and leading a matrixed team of experts throughout the company tasked with understanding the cause of ignition events that help to inform/drive wildfire mitigation strategies. Position Summary We are seeking a mission-driven intern as part of PG&E's Ignition Analysis team. The successful candidate will apply analytical skills, technical acumen, and an investigative mindset to determine causal information of utility-related fire ignitions. They will employ analytical and investigative methods and work cross-functionality across legal, compliance, management, and other investigative functions to develop strategies aimed at reducing wildfire risk. Location of this position is flexible and will require occasional travel to other areas around PG&E's service territory. Responsibilities The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced Records Analysts. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Gas Operations organization through the work they will be performing. Develop comprehensive reports and analysis to provide visibility to long-term, company-wide issues that contribute to ignition events. Work with stakeholders, including first responders in the field, to best categorize the root cause of ignitions, determine PG&E attributability, Perform onsite ignition investigations by combining investigative methods and tools with a knowledge of wildland fire behavior and electric utility assets. Perform In-Field Safety Condition Assessment Reviews of assets involved in incidents and surrounding assets. Liaise with first responder agencies (in coordination with Law) on incidents of high consequence. Provide technical and substantive review and approval of all reports generated by team. Ability to thoroughly document, review, oversee and write complex investigation cases without supervision Focus on continuous improvement and ensure all ignition investigations meet compliance, regulatory and professional investigatory standards while maintaining our mission to stop catastrophic wildfires. PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.85 to $35.11. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree from a credited university from one of the following disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering Fire Science Forestry Environmental Sciences Unmanned Aerial Systems Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship Must have a valid driver's license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date. Desired: 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA Work experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members Strong problem solving and analytical skills Strong communication skills, both oral and written Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction PG&E is unable to provide VISA sponsorship to students on an F-1, J-1 or other student visa for this position.
