Department Overview

Electric Operations ensure the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Transmission Line Asset Strategy and Standards responsible for asset health and engineering drawings and designs. This can include

  • analyzing wildfire risk and probability of failure of transmission line equipment and components
  • determining engineering standards for the construction, repair, maintenance and inspection of equipment and structures

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

The hourly range for this role is 19.91 to 36.42

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing Engineering drawings for its accuracy on electronic maps
  • Reviewing engineering calculations
  • Assist Standards engineer on specific transmission line standard designs, processes, and procedures that make up the PG&E transmission line system,
  • Assist standards engineer with updates and enhancements to engineering drawings
  • Mapping records to business processes for transmission line encroachments
  • Assist in data entry for risk models

The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced transmission line engineers. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electrical Operations organization through the work they will be performing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards degree during and/or after the internship.
  • Must be able to travel to various offices within the PG&E service territory.

Desired:

  • EIT or FE certification
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
