Position: Operating Room Liaison

Department: Central Processing Department

Hours: 40 hours, Days

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is the liaison between the Central Processing Department (CPD) and the Operating Room (OR) regarding supplies, equipment, and set- up. The role assesses the needs of surgeons and the OR staff and acts a mediator between the OR ad CPD. The OR Liaison identifies resources needed to implement new programs/procedures pertaining to surgical instrument preparation, assembly, and maintenance. The liaison assures the flow of instruments to the OR are managed for timeliness and only complete trays are sent to the OR coordinators. The role provides oversight of daily activities between the OR and CPD to facilitate efficient case flow and promote excellent communication. The liaison collaborates with OR and CPD to ensure process improvement initiatives are in compliance with industry standards and BMC Policies & Procedures. This position organizes, directs, and implements daily activities regarding surgical instrumentation ordering, presentation, maintenance, and preparation. The OR Liaison assists in developing, communicating, implementing, and trouble-shooting instrument issues.

EDUCATION:

High School diploma (GED) required. Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

CRCST required within one year of hire; CST Certified Surgical Technologist preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years' experience working in the OR. or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.

  • Strong computer skills required with knowledge of an Instrument Tracking System.

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, follow up, follow through and must be organized.

  • Good depth of understanding related to, production process and controls.

  • Exhibit leadership skills with a strong work ethic. Detailed oriented with proven organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills capable of communication and coordination with multiple departments to build and maintain relationships; execute customer service, leadership, adaptability, and problem solving.

  • Demonstrated customer focused, highly skilled with instrumentation and clinical expertise.
