Job Description

Primary Location:

Salt Lake City, Utah

Accounts Receivable Specialist:

Works with assigned customer accounts in collecting delinquent account, posting payments to customers' accounts, maintaining accounts receivable records. Works with Sales and branch locations in resolving pricing issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Receives payments and posts amount paid to customer account.
  • Enters finalized payments and updates accounts receivable ledgers by customer/ chain.
  • Provides invoice copies for customers, as requested.
  • Retains copies of check and other remittances and bank receipts copies.
  • Proficient with computer and adding machine.
  • Tracks account status and confers with customer by telephone, email or personal contact in attempt to determine reason for over- due payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer.
  • Mails form letters and statements to customer to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
  • Research and processes customer invoice payment, accurately and efficiently within VIP.
  • Research and processes charge backs and pricing discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Answers accounts receivable inquiries and follows up on collection matters quickly.
  • Records information about the financial status of customer and status of collection efforts and keeps management informed of status.
  • Calls and/or mails correspondence to customers as necessary to update accounts.
  • Cross trains (gives and receives) to provide effective backup for other A/R administrative tasks.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisor at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with others, customers and other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts and perform basic math functions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Basic proficiency in computer spreadsheet applications and ten key data entry.
