Job Description:

Amplify's creative team is a group of designers, artists, and storytellers. We sketch, we write, we push pixels, we also love paper. We live for the big ideas, and we sweat the details. We work on digital, print, environmental, interactive, and animation projects. We have a strong hands-on and highly collaborative approach to both product development and graphic design systems and ensure ideas are realized to the highest standards of execution.

As an Art Director on Amplify's Platform Product Design team, you will define and drive the visual strategy for the platform's user experience, creating a cohesive and engaging visual design language that translates our brand values into educator and student experiences. You will partner with product designers, engineers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to establish and maintain a unified visual design system across the platform, ensuring that Amplify's platform is intuitive for users, consistent and visually delightful.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Extend and evolve Amplify's brand identity to meet the needs of the digital platform product experience

  • Connect the platform to marketing's visual strategy, ensuring a seamless bridge between marketing landing pages and the platform UX for new users and returning customers

  • Create a consistent visual identity across all content-agnostic imagery, icons, and illustrations throughout the end to end user journey, adapted to meet the diverse needs of educators and students across all K-12 grade levels

  • Develop a strategy that unifies the use of color across banners, labels, UI buttons and content tags in the platform

  • Build out the robust library of assets and reusable templates that can scale and support different applications, including for figma design system libraries, internal presentation decks and demonstrations for potential customers or users

  • Design and animate dynamic, high-quality vector motion graphic packages such as gifs and videos for demoing tooltips, feature overviews, and simplified UI screens

  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers on compelling designs that show the value of the platform as a whole and across each feature or key user interaction

  • Work on ad hoc visual requests, ensuring high-quality, on-brand execution

  • Partner with Marketing, Platform Product, and Design stakeholders to ensure visual consistency and alignment

  • Work cross-functionally to advocate for design consistency, stakeholder expectations and fostering collaboration between departments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in art direction, visual design, or motion graphics for digital products

  • Expertise in color theory, typography, illustration and visual design systems

  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience designing motion graphics for UX and marketing applications

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Experience developing visual assets for interactive products and platforms

  • Ability to effectively communicate creative concepts and lead design discussions

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)

  • Familiarity with responsive and adaptive design principles to optimize visuals for multiple screen sizes and platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in technology, games, education, or a related industry

  • Experience with AI-driven design tools to create scalable visual assets and animations

  • Experience working with brand and marketing teams to align visual storytelling with UX

  • Familiarity with Figma and prototyping tools for design system collaboration

  • Familiarity with WebGL or Lottie animations to create lightweight, scalable interactive assets for digital platforms

  • A deep understanding of how visuals impact learning experiences

What we offer:

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross salary range for this role is $95,950 - $115,000. This role is eligible to earn an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.

This position may be funded, in whole or in part, through American Recovery & Reinvestment Act funds.
