GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for direct involvement and contribution towards various design and analysis tasks of turbomachinery, engine components, and propulsion systems as well as supporting research and design objectives and product/process improvements within the company. The Senior Engineer will work with TDI engineering, industry primes, and DoD customers to successfully research, develop, test, and document engine improvement, performance testing, and advanced engineering problem-solving activities for multiple programs and engine applications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Proficiency in gas turbine engine and propulsion system computational fluid dynamics and thermodynamic modeling using industry standard tools and software.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry engineering standards and recommended practices for guidelines in engine and component design, analysis, and testing.
  • Experience in use of 3D CAD software
  • Demonstrated experienced in all phases of product development: R&D, conceptual design, test & evaluation, EMD, and production.
  • Expertise in aerodynamic physics and engineering principals with a strong understanding of practical design limitations.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow engineering and technical instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: experience integrating work in a team, interfacing with customers.
  • Ability to make technical presentations internally and to external customers.



Other Job Functions



  • Work independently and efficiently with minimal direction/oversight.
  • Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD
  • Other engineering and technical tasks may be assigned in support of TDIis products and line of business.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:



  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities at this time.

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Knowledge and general familiarization with the aerospace and defense industry
  • Knowledge of engine design tools and analysis methods (CFD, FEA, NPSS, etc.)

    • Knowledge of internal combustion engines, gas turbine engines, propulsion, and air vehicle systems and subsystems


  • Skills in developing analytical models and providing effective analysis results
  • Skills in interpreting simulation and test data and arriving at practical solutions
  • Skills in processing numerical data, conducting data reduction and preparing technical findings and reporting

    • Skills in Microsoft Office tools and various engineering software applications (CAD, CFD, FEA, LabView, C++, etc.)


  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and technical/non-technical customers
  • Ability to present thoughts, concepts, and program status before customers, leaderships, and colleagues



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Successful candidate must possess 15+ years experience and a bacheloris degree in engineering (Aerospace or Mechanical). Advanced engineering degree and specialized engine development experience a plus.
  • Experience working in engineering R&D, test laboratories, engine test cells, and flight test ranges.
  • Technical and Hands-on proficiency with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and software (LabView, etc.)
  • Experience in PC use, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint required. Programming ability in MATLAB, C++, Python, and/or other industry-standard scripts preferred.
  • Experience with technical disciplines to include but not limited to: Aerodynamics, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Programming, Data Analysis, Flight Testing, and Flight Operations.
  • Experience in ITAR environments a plus.



WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Office, laboraroty, test, and production environments
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to adhere to compamny and industrial safety standards and protocols
  • Ability to travel to remote and austere locations (test ranges)
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion
