This position supports accounting operations, reconciles financial data, oversees invoice processing, and ensures adherence to internal controls and organizational policies. The Senior Staff Accountant also serves as a key resource for the finance team, providing guidance, process improvements, and system support.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary - Accounting Support

  • Review and process financial transactions, including vouchers, invoices, expense reports, and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting policies.
  • Monitor general ledger accounts, ensuring proper coding and timely reconciliation.
  • Ensure all payments and financial transactions receive appropriate approvals before execution.
  • Support the forecasting process by providing accurate financial data entry and analysis.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial records are accurate and complete.

Details of Accounting Duties

  • Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to the finance team on accounting procedures and financial systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Develop and update finance-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Assist in training team members on financial reporting requirements and best practices.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely coding and processing of vouchers, invoices, and expense reports.
  • Process participant-related voucher payments, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and internal controls.
  • Review and process local checking account transactions, including verifying requests, entering data into QuickBooks (or equivalent software), and coordinating check processing and distribution.
  • Ensure proper documentation is gathered, reviewed, and uploaded into financial systems such as Concur.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Project Accountant to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely electronic filing and organization of financial documents.
  • Other duties as assigned

Payroll Support

  • Review Time Detail Reports to verify accuracy of recorded hours and identify discrepancies.
  • Process punch corrections and ensure all necessary adjustments are completed before final payroll processing.
  • Communicate payroll-related corrections and updates to the leadership team to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution.
  • Maintain organized payroll records, ensuring timely filing of all payroll-related documentation.
  • Provide payroll records and backup documentation as needed for internal and external audits and compliance reviews.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
  • College level Accounting courses or equivalent accounting and bookkeeping experience
  • Strong Excel, QuickBooks, e-mail, general ledger, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and learn new applications

$28-$29 per hour
