Job Description:

The Leader of Information Systems (IS) will lead our information and technology initiatives in a rapidly growing construction and waste solutions company. The ideal candidate will spearhead our efforts in developing a forward-thinking technology roadmap, advancing infrastructure, and providing innovative IS solutions to support the company's expansion. The Leader of IS will drive digital transformation, build and lead a high-performing team, collaborate with cross-functional departments to align technology with the company's goals, and ensure a strong cybersecurity posture and resilient technology infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Information Systems and Technology Roadmap: Develop and implement a long-term technology strategy to support the company's growth objectives, identifying and integrating emerging technologies to drive efficiency and innovation.

  • Project Management:

    • Lead and manage large-scale data and technology projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.

    • Prioritize projects based on business needs and ensure alignment with the company's objectives.

    • Assess risk in current and planned projects, proactively develop strategies to mitigate risks.

  • Technology Solutions:

    • Identify and implement innovative technology solutions tailored to the needs of the construction industry, with a focus on improving operational efficiency, data management, and overall business performance.

    • Educates team and leaders on technology advances, technology applications, and security concerns that could positively or negatively affect the business.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure IS and technology initiatives align with company goals.

    • Serve as a bridge between IS and business operations to drive digital transformation across the organization.

    • Ensure effective communications so that critical information, policies, and procedures are consistently and effectively communicated to impacted teams.

    • Facilitate a technology review committee, ensuring we are continuously evaluating business technology needs and assessing cybersecurity protocols and compliance.

  • Vendor & Budget Management: Manage relationships with third-party technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee the IS budget to maximize return on investment (ROI) while minimizing costs.

  • Cybersecurity & Risk Management: Lead efforts to safeguard the company's infrastructure and data through advanced cybersecurity strategies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and managing potential risks.

  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and management of robust technology infrastructure, ensuring scalability, high availability, and performance as the company expands.

  • Leadership & Team Building:

    • Build and mentor a forward-thinking IS team with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and strong project management. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and development.

    • Hire, train, develop and review all direct reports. Takes disciplinary action as necessary, on a timely basis, and in accordance with company policy.

    • Documents, plans, and delivers meaningful and timely performance reviews and motivates and recognizes employees timely.

    • Ensures new hires are properly trained and employees are cross trained within the department to support continuous employee development.

    • Ensures compliance with current Federal, State, and local regulations

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Systems and Technology, with at least 5 of those years in IS/IT leadership roles,

  • Technical Skills:

    • Experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure management, and risk mitigation.

    • Strong knowledge of enterprise IT solutions, cloud technologies, and data management tools.

    • Expertise in IT infrastructure management, cloud services, and network administration.

    • Strong knowledge of data governance practices, including security protocols, access management, and backup/recovery solutions.

    • Familiarity with remote work technologies and supporting distributed teams.

  • Leadership & Management:

    • Excellent leadership, team building, and project management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor staff.

    • Proven track record of creating and executing a technology roadmap in a growing organization, preferably within the construction or related industry.

    • Proven track record in developing the IS/IT strategy and roadmap linked to business objectives.

    • Prior exposure to project planning, execution, and organization change-management efforts.

    • Demonstrated leadership in building and mentoring IS/IT teams through periods of growth and transformation.

    • Strong problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and a collaborative mindset.

    • Ability to create a high-performing IS/IT culture focused on innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

    • Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and technology budgets.

  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Master's Degree

  • Experience in the construction or real estate development industry.

  • Experience in Vista Viewpoint and HCSS.

  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, construction management software, and other industry-specific tools.

  • Certifications in IT management, cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM), or project management (e.g., PMP) are a plus

Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by any employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit in a stationary position for extended periods of time; 50%+. The employee is regularly required to use a computer/laptop/iPad in on office environment with natural and/or florescent lighting, navigate between office building floors, and on occasion, attend off-site meetings. The employee occasionally may encounter high noise levels, but hearing protection is provided/required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Able to work extended hours (up to 12 per day) during peak periods.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employees may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Most often an office environment, however occasional jobsite travel is required. Employee frequently works alone and with others. Frequently exposed to variable work environments, including unique conditions outside a typical office environment.

Additional Job Description:

Base Compensation: $160,000 - $200,000

The base salary range may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
