The Planning Analyst is responsible for the continuous production of Zirconia products; including raw material, capacity, component and finished good planning, and for ensuring Zirconia manufacturing plans are executed cross functionally between Inventory Control, Manufacturing and Quality departments. Schedule: M-F, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Location: 5855 Oberlin Dr, San Diego, CA 92121 The day-to-day:
- Works closely and proactively with Sr. Director of Supply Chain, Inventory Control, Manufacturing & Quality to establish and maintain inventory levels that support manufacturing build schedules and forecasts, specifically using lean processes to deliver superior results and on time deliveries.
- Translates current inventory, incoming volume, and work scopes into a production plan with a time-phased build schedule.
- In conjunction with Supply Chain Sr. Director, manages load leveling and bottleneck scheduling and utilizes theory of constraints (TOC) for more accurate scheduling.
- Works with purchasing and inventory control teams to ensure adequate stock levels, minimize waste, and reduce carrying costs.
- Monitors and manages production capacity, adjusting as necessary to meet changing demands and optimize resource utilization.
- Develops and maintains counter measures to address the root causes of gaps in planning.
- Manages backorder report and communicates projected availability, reason for stock out and prevents future backorders by prioritizing component and finished good planning
- Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
- Provides input to the Director of Supply Chain on operating plans for the sales, inventory and operations planning (SIOP) process, concerning incoming volume and capacity.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and works with cross-functional teams to implement changes that increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensures that all production activities adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
What does it take to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or related field with 3-5 years' experience in analysis or demand planning, preferably in manufacturing or distribution. Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
- Experience using kanban, forecasting tools and best practices, including techniques and methods to develop forecasting models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen curiosity for identifying root causes and underlying trends.
- Ability to generate, analyze and interpret data.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and statistical packages.
- Experience in production scheduling and capacity planning.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to manage, interpret and utilize large sets of data.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Advanced ERP experience required. (QAD experience is a plus.)
- Project / Program Management capabilities and leadership skills / Lean background a plus.
- Knowledge of and exposure to complex business systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Power BI, Word, & PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- APICS certification is a plus.
- Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures and completing on-the-job training.
- Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
