About The Job We are seeking a full-time, experienced, mid-level Staff Architectural Historian to support Dudek clients throughout the United States with a preference to support projects in the Pacific Northwest. The successful applicant will manage and implement the evaluation and mitigation strategies for built environment resources for a wide range of projects with both private and public clients. Direct experience working in the Pacific Northwest is strongly desired, as well as the ability to travel and work outside of the local area if required. Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below): * Prepare historic resource surveys, evaluations, and related technical documents in compliance with NEPA, Section 106 of the NHPA, and applicable local requirements. * Evaluate historic resources by considering NRHP, local-level designation criteria, and integrity requirements. * Ability to research, develop, and write historic context statements. * Delegate technical work to entry-level staff when appropriate. * Conduct, organize, and lead built environment fieldwork efforts: understand the necessary level of effort to record a variety of built environment resources. * Assist in assessing Section 106 effects on historic properties in consideration of federal, state, and local requirements. * Have a working understanding of the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and understand the application of these Standards in federal, state, and local regulatory settings. * Ability to work within report and project budgets, manage a technical report from start to finish, and meet deliverable deadlines. * The applicant will be expected to maintain our existing client relationships and develop relationships with new clients and have the ability to champion proposals, collaborate with our marketing team and other team members, and clearly communicate our qualifications, experience, and work approach to a potential client will be necessary. Minimum Requirements * Master's degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or a related field * Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for architectural history. * A working knowledge of local, state, and federal cultural resources regulations and guidelines * Strong writing and research skills. * Strong communication skills. * Ability to work as part of a team of cultural resources professionals. * Familiarity with preparing technical reports for Washington SEPA compliance and processing projects in accordance with EFSEC in Oregon. * Experience conducting property-specific research, including, but not limited to, building permit research at local government offices and a wide variety of archival facilities. * Familiarity with WISAARD and Oregon SHPO records searches. * Experience developing historic context statements. * Understanding of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties. * Experience evaluating properties in accordance with local, state, and national criteria and integrity requirements. * Willingness to travel to a project location for several consecutive days * Valid driver's license. * Ability to contribute to preparing scopes and costs based on project/regulatory compliance needs. Preferred Requirements: * Between 8 to 10 years of professional experience in architectural history, historic preservation, and regulatory compliance. * As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check. Physical Requirements Working Conditions: This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc. This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting. This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required. Proposed Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 annually* *Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual's related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
