We are searching for a talented Medical Assistant-Non-Certified-Oncology

Hours: Per Diem

Shift: Day shift; 8:00am - 4:30pm

Location: Cancer Center - Fairhaven, MA

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Patient Care Services or designee, assist nurses and providers with all aspects of patient care. This may include, but is not limited to, collecting assessment data, assist with invasive medical procedures (ie. bone marrow biopsies, lumbar puncture), perform tests as assigned (ie EKG, specimen collection), room patients, medication reconciliation, documentation, telephone communication with patients and medical offices, order entry, patient scheduling and registration, etc. Provide patients with written information regarding medications and disease as assigned. Facilitate efficient flow of patients through the oncology clinic.


Qualifications

  • Completion of four years of high school or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience as Nurses Aid, Clinical Associate or Medical Assistant required.
  • Experience with very ill or terminally ill patients is preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, meditech or other healthcare computer software preferred.
  • Medical Terminology course required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate Program required within three months of date of hire.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

  • Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
