Job Title: Human Resources Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Plant Manager Rousselot Dubuque Summary: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for oversight of all HR functions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Recommends strategies designed to attract and retain the best employees at all locations Recommends and assists in formulating, recommending, and writing HR policies and objectives. Identifies legal issues and government regulations; monitors company exposure to legal issues; assists the VP of Human Resources in conjunction with CEO of Rousselot, Inc. as the primary contact with legal counsel. Recruits and interviews hourly and management job candidates; works with Director of Diversity and Inclusion to ensure compliance with company goals. Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements. Submits & assists with new-employee background checks, and conducts new-hire orientations. Determines training needs and implements proper programs. Assists and advises all management and locations on resolution of any HR issues. Assists with succession planning strategies for the corporation and development of evaluation, training, and compensation analysis processes. Supervises and directs HR staff and work flow including benefit programs, WC claims, general HR functions, coordination with Payroll Dept. Acts as HR contact on HR issues within organization; division, department and plant level. Maintains working relationship with union officials and adheres to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions. Coordinates with vendors on a variety of HR related programs; ensures effective management of vendors services and contracts. Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs. Work hand in hand with plant manager's in achieving plant goals and objectives relative to plant staffing. Ensure safety/secure programs appropriate with corporate goals and in conjunction with ESH manager. Prepare HR budgets. Prepare and oversee employee absenteeism, turnover, separation and other personnel policies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Union experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Physical Demands Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stop, kneel, crawl and crouch. Occasionally required to lift up to 20lbs. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Ability to travel by car, airplane or other form of transportation.
