Join our team as a Internal Communications Coordinator!
This is a hybrid role being onsite in Maple Plain, MN on Tuesday & Wednesday.
The Internal Communications Coordinator will support our global, company-wide communication across a range of digital channels such as our employee web portal, email, virtual all-company meetings, events, and more. Tactically, they will provide creative services (copy + design) for marketing, HR, and other departments in need of communications support but also work directly with our internal communication strategist on large-scale internal projects like recruitment and facilities branding, voice of employee (VoE) surveys, and other high-profile initiatives. We're looking for a versatile marketing coordinator looking to work across different internal communication channels and collaborate with regional marketing teams but also stakeholders outside of marketing.

What you'll do:
  • Write and design creative for emails, events, newsletters, facilities signage, monitors, social media, and other employee communication.
  • Help coordinate and/or capture photos and video of large events and happenings across the company.
  • Write and build webpages for employee web portal-Connect Global-as well as curating a quarterly content plan for Connect.
  • Review copy and design of internal communication from other internal groups like executive team, HR, employee resource groups (ERGs), facilities, finance, and others.
  • Help with PPTs, recordings, and communication for quarterly all-company meeting, monthly managers' meetings, and townhalls.
  • Work with global brand team to support facility branding needs across the company.
  • Manage internal communications calendar for tracking and planning communication and photo opportunities.
  • Help develop global internal communications network in US and Europe to better coordinate our internal communication effort between marketing and HR.
  • Assist internal communications team to streamline strategic initiatives like recruitment branding, facilities rebranding, Protolabs Foundation, Voice of Employee (VoE) surveys, and other large-scale projects.
What it takes:
  • Four-year college degree, preferably in communications.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience, preferably in a marketing or HR setting.
  • Ability to write and design clear and consistent content (emails, webpages, PPTs, signage, etc.).
  • Strong grasp of internal marketing channels and what communication works best for those channels.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with a company with various stakeholders.
  • Independent worker capable of managing multiple projects in parallel.
  • Experience working with art directors, designers, editors in a creative environment.
  • Can maintain a professional voice, but one that's not completely void of personality.
  • Attention to detail and appreciation for brand consistency driven by brand guide.
  • Ability to quickly learn technical information and apply it in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Teams and Adobe applications).
Bonus Points:
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing and/or engineering fields not required, but certainly welcomed.
  • Familiarity with one of the major style guides (AP Stylebook/Chicago Manual).
  • Familiarity with design tools like Photoshop and CMS platforms like Umbraco or Wordpress.

Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package, and compensation mix vary based on position, such as base wage, as well as other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.

Physical Demands:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. However, there may be job duties that require the employee to spend time in the manufacturing areas exposed to machinery and noise; eye protection occasionally required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
