Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
Under the general supervision of the Dean, supports and contributes to the clinic mission statement by managing specific clinical functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCIONS

  • Assure that all clinic operations function in accordance with law, the University, dental school, and clinic purpose and vision statements; assure that all personnel function in compliance with the dental school values.


  • Actively support the continued evolution and success of the Pacific Dental Helix Curriculum.
  • Manage, direct, and coordinate external relationships related to clinic operations including contracts with extramural clinics, establishment and ongoing evaluation of extramural rotations, Ryan White CARE-related operations (including contract negotiations), international mission trips, and other external partnerships; work directly with internal (e.g. clinic directors, managers, GPLs, chairpersons and vice chairpersons) and external (e.g. legal counsel, site directors) entities in assuring this responsibility is met.
  • Manage and coordinate the joint operations within the Specialty Clinic and assure smooth transition of patients to and from those operations and effective education of students and postgraduate residents in that setting.
  • Direct and coordinate quality assurance activities in all clinics within the Dugoni School system and campuses.
  • Direct and oversee dental licensure exams ensuring appropriate logistical and operational support for students and examiners; maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in licensure requirements and to ensure examination process according to established regulations and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the communication structure of the dental school including committee work (CAC, Clinic Committee, CQA, etc) and meeting/event attendance.
  • Act as a liaison between the ADOHE/EAD, department chairpersons, group practice leaders, and program directors; serve as communication node to actively push communication to all stakeholders related to clinical operations.
  • Work closely with outcomes team to develop and utilize reports in the management of clinic operations and assessment of outcomes (e.g. student learning, patient care, clinic operations, financial outcomes) and incorporate these reports into the dental school outcomes tracking format.
  • Provide leadership to establish and implement clinic policy and structure within the Clinical Practice Strand to support all clinical learning opportunities for students and residents.
  • Communicate with IT/EHR providers on all clinic-related IT operations (hardware and software upgrades, process changes, report writing, grading); consolidate user requests to ensure smooth clinical and operational electronic health record management.
  • Work closely with academic departments and other school leaders to ensure a smooth and productive clinical operation to support and enhance student and resident learning.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:

  • Dental school educational processes.
  • Dental school practice management processes.
  • Dental school clinic administration processes.
  • Private practice management processes.
  • Clinical EHR systems.
  • Principles of management and supervision.
  • Principles of business communication, including interpersonal interactions and letter and report writing.
  • Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.


Experience:
  • Minimum five years of dental private practice experience.
Education/Licenses:

  • Dental degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current dental license.
  • Current CPR certification.

Working Conditions:

  • Position requires coordination of a variety of responsibilities in stressful situations.
  • Must be available to work additional hours, including some weekends.
  • Ability to travel to satellite clinics and professional meetings.

  • Work performed is primarily office/administrative with frequent use of computer keyboard, mouse and telephone.
  • Alternate sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs should be anticipated.

Hiring Range $280,000 - $320,000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
