GLOBAL SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL AND SECURITY MANAGER

POSITION PURPOSE

The Global Safety, Health, Environment and Security Manager will have an essential support role on defining and implementing the strategies to comply with Austin Powder's Mission, Vision and Values, providing permanent support to the execution of Austin Powder Holding Company's Safety Management System and Programs, including the SHES Manual and the BOS Principles in all Austin Powder Global Manufacturing, Distribution and Field Services.

This position will work directly with the Global SHES Director interacting with Regional and local SHES Managers, Plant / business / Operations managers worldwide.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • This position will be responsible to ensure all global operations have access to Corporate SHES standards as well as supporting the development, review and communication of such standards.
  • Drive the SHES data collection, review and issue of reports.
  • Support Hazard Studies, Incident investigation, Risk Assessments and MOC as needed.
  • Ensure good practices and learnings are effectively communicated throughout the organization.
  • Active participation on recurrent corporate meetings, including the Safety Focus Meeting.
  • The Global SMS Manager will support the corporate SHES audits and visits and will have an active roll in mapping gaps and following up on their completion.
  • Support corporate projects such as the global expansion of Intelex, the Learning Management System as well as global initiatives such as the Global Sustainability Team.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills, works well in a team environment.


SAFETY AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT



  • Will proactively plan, manage and implement the Company's safety management system to ensure a safe, environmentally responsible, healthy and accident-free work environment.
  • Monitor key performance metrics to measure performance and to evaluate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program effectiveness.
  • Along with the Regional and local SHES Managers, to standardize SHEs programs and key performance metrics and provide recommendations and assistance with respect to safety improvement plans, job site hazards, employee training, new/safe equipment operation.
  • Ensure compliance of company operations to Company policies.
  • Remain current on industry safety regulations. Keep management advised of new or revised regulations and their projected impact.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of Intelex, the Company's EHS software system.


ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT



  • Support the development of the Corporate Environmental Standards and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Drive the compliance and continuous improvement of the environmental performance of Austin Powder's operations.
  • Support the corporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Disseminate good environmental practices.


Security



  • Support the implementation of Austin Powder's Security Policy.
  • Support the development of the Corporate Security Standards and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Drive the data collection of Security incidents
  • Disseminate good security practices


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety & Health, SHES Management, or a related field required, Master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership/managerial experience within the Environmental Health and Safety function in the aggregates, mining, or construction industries.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills with work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists.
  • Experience and ability to effectively lead a team remotely.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills that can effectively deliver message with people of various backgrounds, experience, and education levels.
  • Proficiency in English
  • Demonstrated experience in Risk Assessments, Hazard Studies and complex incident investigation (preferably with ICAM methodology)
  • Advanced interpersonal communications skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Demonstrated highly effective platform presentation skills and training delivery skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Ability to travel 40% by air or car with consecutive overnight stays (with occasional short notice).
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects and manage priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment throughout the year in rough terrain, quarries, mines, construction jobs.
  • Other duties as identified and assigned.
