The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state. NYISO in Rensselaer, NY seeks a Director of Grid Transition to lead a cross functional team comprised of key stakeholders in Operations and Planning focused on successfully preparing the organization for managing the NYS power system as it transitions. The team will primarily be focused on preparing Operations and Planning for the reliable and standards compliant integration of a large number of inverter-based carbon free resources, including intermittent and energy limited storage resources. The Director of Grid Transition will develop a "center of excellence in grid transition" at NYISO to facilitate information sharing within the worldwide electrical industry. The position also represents NYISO with external regulatory and industry organizations as well as with other neighboring ISOs and interconnected systems as well as serving as a NYISO representative on national, regional and local committees and task forces. Requirements: Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
