NPD Technician II In this job you will perform a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, thermal, and chemical tests/evaluations to analyze, verify, and validate NPD product designs. As an NPD Technician II you will:
- Assemble prototype/components following written and verbal instructions with little or no supervision
- Assemble mechanisms, modules, and/or systems per mechanical drawings
- Assembly junction boxes, electronic controls, and sensors per electrical and mechanical drawings
- Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering, tools, and materials
- Work with NPD personnel including engineers, and administrators to meet project targets. Provide feedback to engineers on assembly instructions and drawings
- Perform material handling tasks including operating overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and shop carts
- Perform disassembly operations on units and document findings noting damage, defects, root causes, and necessary repair/rebuild recommendations. Troubleshoot assemblies as needed
- Preparation and execution of mechanical, electrical, and chemical tests on materials and products, record data, analyze test results, and prepare written reports detailing results of the test
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of NPD technician tasks as needed
- Contribute to continuous process improvements by providing input into test processes and procedures
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a High School diploma, G.E.D., or combination of work experience and skill development required
- Has 3-4 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred candidates will have knowledge of / experience in one or more of the following products/testing
- Has experience with relay based controls (assembly and test), Digital Multimeters, High Current Injection, Data Loggers, and Oscilloscopes
- Mechanism/ module (assembly and test), Circuit Resistance/ Megger
- Switchgear Systems (assembly and test), High Voltage Impulse Tests, Hi-Pot Tests, PD Test, and Voltage Sensor System tests
- Must have good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Must be able to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material
- Must be able to safely use hand and power tools including pneumatic and electric powered tools
- Has experience using an ERP system desirable, JD Edwards experience preferred
- Must be able to use thinking and reasoning to problem solve and troubleshoot problems of moderate complexity and recommend concepts or ideas for resolution
- Must be able to perform work accurately and thoroughly with attention to detail
- Is required to utilize a personal computer and/or computerized technology such as in testing products and/or related recordkeeping
- Has a demonstrated history of observing all safety precautions on the shop floor, test areas, and in operating equipment, including forklifts and cranes
- Has a demonstrated history of prompt attendance, excellent work habits, and ability to get along well, at all times, with all members of the team, management, and organization
- Preferably has three years of experience in high current and high voltage testing
- Preferably has an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or technical trade school formal certification
