Primary Purpose of Position |
The Faculty Personnel Support Specialist serves as client service lead and Subject Matter Expert (
SME) for full-time Faculty positions - with responsibility for independently performing a wide range of complex Human Resources actions including: full-time faculty recruitment, appointment, record creation process, compensation, and providing process consultation services in support of the division of the Academic Affairs. This position conducts position review/analysis associated with the establishment of new
EHRA full-time faculty positions, as well as the modification of existing
EHRA full-time faculty,
SHRA staff, and
EHRA non-faculty positions, and all corresponding salary administration consistent with Federal, State,
UNC System Office, and University guidelines and policies. Additionally, this position is responsible for the review of Academic Affairs' NinerTalent recruitment and hiring actions for full-time faculty and staff positions - providing policy and procedure guidance and technical support to academic department heads and their business teams to foster business administration proficiency and service continuity among a highly distributed campus workforce. |
Summary of Position Responsibilities |
- Serves as the University Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Full-time Faculty positions and unpaid adjunct appointment and responsible for Academic Affairs Division position management - recruitment and hiring actions in NinerTalent to ensure all payroll actions meet payroll deadlines. This position has the final say as it has delegated duties for assigned colleges.
- Prepares and process paper work for administrative appointments in Academic Affairs Division.
- Manage and process personnel action forms to include PD7, C30, moving reimbursement, and other Academic Affairs forms as necessary for faculty, staff and student employees.
- Consults with central HR office on I9 work authorizations for faculty making sure that all faculty adhere to federal work authorization guidelines.
- Prepares and process paper work for administrative appointments in Academic Affairs division.
- Develop human resources related presentations and discussion materials, and update information on the Business Officer Toolkit.
- Facilitates and manages flow of work in aa-personnel@uncc.edu inbox, routing of forms, and assists in planning coverage during absences.
- Maintains information on process deadlines, documents, and processes in Google, Excel, and Word.
- Maintains personnel records and assists college leadership and business offices with coordinating and prioritizing personnel actions and requests based on personnel requirements.
- Supports the Director of Academic Affairs HR in training for staff in the college who help with personnel procedures and policies (personnel actions for Academic Affairs, reporting, Business Officer Toolkit) and reviewing their work.

Minimum Education/Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a Business related field, or Public Administration, Human Resources
- Three years of experience related to the area of assignment; or related business/program area equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
- Prior Human Resources or project management experience at a University
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience using Human Resource Information Systems (PeopleAdmin, Banner HR and Finance)
- Advanced level Microsoft Office Suite experience with demonstrable skills in the use of Excel.
