Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Credit Manager is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC.

Management

  • Supervision, mentorship, development, and growth of direct reports to ensure departmental goals and objectives are met.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for assessing processes and procedures, keeping abreast of new technologies and methodologies, and making recommendations for change.
  • Ensures regular and effective communication within team and across departments while visiting high profile customers on a regular basis to communicate the value of the Cat Commercial Card, as well as promotes the Card within the Branches.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Credit Manager to prepare for team credit meetings as well as and presentations for the Executive Team.

Risk Mitigation

  • Ensuring compliance and adherence to all SOP (standard operating procedures), with the expectation that any suspicious activities and/or non-compliant behaviors are reported immediately to the CFO.
  • Ensures consistency in account management, processes and protocols for documenting work and account activities.
  • Responsible for daily review and approvals of deals, credit sales, and to sets appropriate credit limits for prospective customers, marginal accounts, and the updates analysis for existing customers.
  • Monitor monthly balances of customer accounts, address irregularities as they arise and when records indicate customer may be exceeding safe limits, takes appropriate steps to prevent past-due accounts.

Collections

  • Reviews regularly the status of collections to assure that accounts receivable are in sound condition.
  • Directly responsible for collecting on and servicing key client accounts and distributing all other accounts equitability among Credit Analysts.
  • Communicates with sales and service departments regularly to avoid and/or resolve any possible customer invoice disputes.

Legal

  • Responsible for managing liens and taking appropriate action (such as: real property mechanic lien, repair, and storage lien as well as UCC filings).
  • Collaborates closely with attorneys, bonding companies, and collection agencies on unresolved past due accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • BA degree in business related field required, accounting or finance preferred.
  • 10+ years of credit portfolio management experience required, preferably in the equipment business and 5+ years previous supervisory experience.
  • Computer proficient with experience with Coti, Uptake, DBS, Billtrust and Monday.com
  • Knowledge of the different types of liens and legal collections processes required.
  • Must possess a customer centric mindset along with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Professional demeanor, strong business acumen with excellent communications and presentation skills.
  • Results oriented with exceptional analytical skills to translate findings into actionable items.
  • Strategic thinking skills with ability to problem solve and negotiate.
  • Self-directed with the ability to lead and work effectively with teams to building a supportive, positive, and winning culture focused on continuous process improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities; meets deadlines and works well under pressure.
