Description
Summary/Purpose of the Position: A Senior Analyst of Indirect Tax is responsible for overseeing and managing the indirect tax obligations of an organization. Indirect taxes include sales tax, and other transaction-based taxes. Essential Duties, functions and/or Responsibilities: Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Reconcile indirect tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws.
Transactional Tax Credits
- Work on tax debit and credit memos
- Review tax certs to ensure compliance with applicable state laws
Tax Audits and Disputes
- Assist with tax audits, responding to inquiries from tax authorities, and preparing necessary documentation.
- Monitor and analyze tax risks, ensuring proper internal controls are in place to mitigate potential liabilities.
- Collaborate with external tax consultants and advisors as needed.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements in indirect tax reporting and compliance.
Tax Research & Advisory
- Stay updated on changes in indirect tax laws and regulations to assess their impact on business operations.
- Provide guidance to internal teams on indirect tax implications of business transactions and policy changes.
- Support cross-functional teams by advising on indirect tax matters related to contracts, invoicing, and supply chain operations
- Self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach.
- Indirectly responsible for product quality
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in indirect tax compliance, preferably in a multinational corporation or public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. sales & use tax, and other indirect taxes.
- Experience with tax automation tools (e.g., Avalara) and ERP systems (Infor Suite Products) is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
- Ability to interpret and apply tax laws and regulations in a business context.
- Experience working with large datasets and reconciling tax accounts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
