Project Engineer, Construction

Job Description:

Entry level construction position in Ryan's Field Department or Project Management Department reporting to the Project Manager or Project Superintendent with indirect reporting to the Division Manager. Assists the project team in the completion of a designated project with the focus on learning Ryan processes, procedures and business policies. The position objective is to educate the employee in field and office operations while working from a construction project site for a minimum of six months and preferably for the duration of an entire construction project. Upon completion of the employee's tenure as a Project Engineer and Sr. Project Engineer a career direction / decision will be established for either promotion to Project Manager I (Project Manager Career Path) or Assistant Superintendent (Field Career Path).

Some things you can expect to do:

  • Help generate Requests For Information (RFIs) and track approvals.

  • Monitor and maintain shop drawing log and shop drawing coordination.

  • Learn project dimensional control requirements while field verifying dimensions to back check the shop drawing approval process.

  • Assist in the coordination and tracking of Vendor and Subcontractor deliveries.

  • Learn Ryan Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Gain an understanding for overall site logistics.

  • Participate in and gain an understanding of the city and jurisdictional permit inspection process.

  • Keep office and jobsite plans updated with RFIs and ASIs.

  • Accompany Ryan personnel (and Owner) on Punchlist inspections, record Punchlist items and monitor completion of Punchlist work.

  • Perform additional assignments per Superintendent's/Project Manager's direction.

  • Participate in preparing and updating the project schedule.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • 4-year college degree, preferably in a construction-related field.

  • General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.

  • Ability to calculate mathematical calculations, understand architectural and engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost-coding systems.

  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively.

  • Minimum six month jobsite experience before moving on to Project Management or Field Career Path.

  • Willingness to travel, and/or relocate, as needed to execute projects.

  • Four-year college degree in construction management or related field.

  • Entry level position, but previous intern experience preferred.

Compensation:

The base pay range is $71,700-$107,500/Annually. The salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
