Job Summary:

The SBA Lending Analyst plays an integral role on the SBA lending Team. The individual will work directly with SBA Lenders, SBA Credit Underwriters, Credit Officers, SBA Closers, and others to gather required documentation and analyze new SBA credit opportunities and assist SBA Closers gathering required to close/fund new loan opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties:




  • Preliminary assessment of new loan opportunities
  • Analyzing individual company performance and the impact of industry and competitive dynamics and macroeconomic events on the creditworthiness of clients and prospects
  • Develop strong working relationships with SBA Lenders, SBA Credit Underwriters, Credit Officers, SBA Closers, and other internal teammates.
  • Spreading and initial analysis of financial statements, projections, and business plans
  • Assess SBA eligibility and have a thorough understanding of the SBA SOP.
  • Attend SBA training and keep up to date on SBA regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal bank credit policy and external regulatory requirements.
  • Assist SBA Credit Underwriters preparing loan packages with assistance from SBA Lenders, as available.
  • Manage the appraisal process for all new credits (i.e., work with borrowers to get appropriate information to the appraiser, order appraisals, check status, etc.).
  • Order and review Site Inspections.
  • Attention to regulatory requirements and compliance training applicable to position (Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Information Privacy ETC).
  • Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential information are essential.



Job Skills and Qualifications:




  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • At least two years of commercial credit underwriting and lending experience preferred.
  • College degree required (concentration in accounting or finance preferred).


  • Proficient with Excel - knowledge of basic excel modeling and formulas - as well as other standard Microsoft products.
  • Knowledge of standard banking applications such as financial spreading software preferred.
  • BA in Finance or Accounting (preferred).
  • Minimum 12 hours of accounting courses (preferred).
  • 3-years of experience as a Credit Analyst preferred.
  • Should be familiar and proficient in underwriting the types of loans that the SBA Lenders originate.
  • Must be able to multitask.
