Staff Research Associate - Neurosurgery

Description

The Staff Research Associate will support research in the
areas of central nervous system cancer immunology.
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI),
you will contribute to a variety of research projects, including
clinical and experimental research studies focused on brain tumors in human and
animal models. Training will be a continuous feature of this position. This
position entails being responsible for laboratory maintenance including
disposal of chemical and biohazardous waste, autoclaving and cleaning of lab
equipment and supplies, and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies.

Responsibilities include tissue processing and cell culture of human
and mammalian cell lines including patient-derived specimens.
Key
responsibilities include performing basic and advanced laboratory techniques,
cell cultures, rodent animal surgeries and welfare checks, gene expression and
epigenetic analyses, cytotoxicity analysis with xCELLigence system, and flow
cytometry. Other duties include processing of biological samples, maintaining
detailed sample and experimental records, cataloguing sample inventory, as well
as the retrieval, transport, and shipment of biological samples. The
integration and maintenance of clinically relevant information is also
essential so familiarity with electronic medical record systems is required. You will be working on innovative research and will learn new techniques as they apply to emerging projects. You'll be expected to teach other research personnel as necessary and assist members of the research team with ongoing projects and research tasks as needed.

Salary Range: $26.52 - $31.63/Hourly

Qualifications

All Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Molecular Biology or related field and/or equivalent
    experience/training
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory setting and/or
    conducting research.
  • Skill with basic molecular biology laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to perform several
    tasks at once, communicate clearly and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn new
    methods and protocols.
  • Previous experience in managing basic laboratory or
    clinical safety protocols.
  • General knowledge of cell and molecular biology.
  • Knowledge of cell culture and DNA/RNA lab techniques are
    highly desirable.
  • Must be responsible and able to work independently, without
    close supervision.
  • Knowledge of PC computers, spreadsheets, and word
    processing programs.
  • Ability to perform basic technical duties such as logging
    in reagents and data analyses.
  • Ability to organize many cell lines and manage a large
    number of data collection points.
