job purpose:

The Technician is the first level of operations support for equipment reliability. Operations include daily maintenance and monitoring of equipment. Additional responsibilities to include receiving troubleshooting calls on off hours and occasional off-shift work to facilitate training. This role requires flexibility and work center per shift is assigned by supervisor.

responsibilities:

  • Review/update all PM's & MSS for effectiveness
  • Responsible for execution of some PM's.
  • Participates/leads RCA and CI projects.
  • Works all annual shutdowns for individual lines and the plant.
  • Ready to assist maintenance including changing gaskets, removing and inspecting valves.
  • Troubleshooting, creation of training documents, and regular machine audits.
  • Able to apply complex troubleshooting techniques utilizing all resources available including HMI, P&IDs, etc.
  • Monitor and complete all necessary paperwork for internal and regulatory agencies.
  • Work as the technical liaison between the plant and suppliers.
  • Provide technical leadership and tutoring to operators.
  • Ensure processes are standardized across all shifts.
  • Report on equipment performance.
  • Escalates issues and advises Coordinators and Supervisors on next steps to solve daily production demands and system failures.
  • Participates in production trials, preparing for inspections/testing, and audits during the regular work shift.
  • Maintains clean and safe work environment.
  • Technical support to other team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.



skills/qualifications required:



  • Effectively operate 3 equipment work centers. Demonstrates Expert Technical Knowledge in their Work Center of designation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot 90% + of technical issues, create new recipes, develop SOPs/OPLs, training material, schedules training, PM guidelines, and PM schedule
  • > 70% Dairy Math 101 Test (pearson square, basic algebra, calculating densities, converting units). Complete Advanced Mechanical capability test (rebuild mixproof valve, Positive Displacement motor, calibrate sensors)
  • The appropriate candidate should have experience running the equipment as an operator and show proficiency in the daily operations of equipment
  • The technician also requires a strong mechanical background and an excellent understanding of equipment.
  • The candidate should have a high school diploma or college degree (preferred).
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.



working conditions and physical requirements:



  • Standing for extended periods is common along with sitting, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, crawling, climbing, grasping, lifting and carrying.
  • Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, sparks, oil and smoke may occur.
  • Protective safety equipment may be required including, but not limited to: hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, shoes, gloves, hardhat, and safety eyewear as needed.
  • Regular use of a variety of machines and tools is essential.
  • The job is performed indoors on a manufacturing floor as well as outdoor on plant grounds.
  • May be required to use Forklift (Gas and Electric), farm tractor and attachments, company vehicle, lawn mower, weed eater, various hand tools, various power tools, acetylene torch, plasma cutter, welder, personal computer, copy and fax machine, calculator, and phone.



food safety requirements:



  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.


  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
