Job Summary: This Custodian position is a team member of the Wisconsin Union -Facilities Custodian Team. Duties include routine maintenance and cleaning, trash removal and snow removal. Training/Certification will be provided for forklift operation, skid steer operation and for operation of a variety of other machines. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodial Services Supervisor. Our organization, the Wisconsin Union, is the social heart of UW-Madison, providing events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Wisconsin Union members, and visitors. The Union also provides hands-on leadership experiences for hundreds of UW-Madison students. Responsibilities: Cleans facilities, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours. Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas. 80% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables 5% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities 5% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed 5% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs 5% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Diploma Qualifications: -Ability to walk, stand, lift, carry, bend, stoop and climb for the majority of the shift, including extended periods of continuous physical activities with or without an accommodation. -Ability to lift and move supplies, equipment and material regularly up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. -Ability to move, push and stack furniture regularly, often in excess of 100 lbs. Work Schedule: Work Schedule Thursday - Monday 2:30pm - 11pm Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $17.00 HOURLY Depending on Qualifications -Plus an additional $2.50 per hour for night hours worked (6pm-6am). -Plus an additional $0.80 per hour for weekend hours worked. -Plus Time and a half per hour for hours worked on designated legal holidays. This is a full-time appointment. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending.
